  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis 3.8: Ultimate with rear windshield radio antenna connection broken/ peeled off. Has less 2000 miles on it. Bought it as CPO few months with 125 miles.

The radio has some kind of static and HD radio is keep dropping and then I found that the right upper corner of rear window is some color change on the antenna. The dealer tech confirmed it and ordered a replacement window.
Now I am concerned that will they install properly or not. They going to use outside vendor to install it and take a day to install.

Any advice on this? Do we have the control over who is going to install this etc?

I doubt you will have a problem. I had my windshield replaced because of a rock hitting it. I have had no issues with the new windshield. Beware, replacement of the windshield requires recallobration of the forward collision sensors and cost around $2600. Insurance covered all but my deductible. This is the first windshield I have ever had to replace.

There are auto glass companies that are experts in installing car auto glass (mostly windshields), since that is what they do all day long. A dealer tech likely has never done that. I would not worry about your dealer farming that job out to experts.

As far as the antenna goes, it should be obvious whether it is connected properly once you get your car back and then you can test your radio, rear defroster, etc.

Wow I had no idea about that recalibration thing. Are you saying that the total for the windshield and recalibration was $2600? I'm assuming that's OEM?

Thank you for the reassurance. But I do not think that there is any recalibration needed for rear windshield. It is the OEM glass coming from Hyundai.

For something like that, I would go to a dealer that had a body shop.
