  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Guys,

Last May I bought a Low Mile (5400mi) 2013 Equus Ultimate, was going to buy a 2016 Genesis R-Spec, but after Chewing the Dealer down on the Equus it was Too good of a deal to
Pass up at Only 35K. Anyhow, First thing I did was take it to the Track, (Maple Grove in PA), where it ran a 13.90@101.45 mph....Not Bad for a 4800Lb Vehicle, plus beating a Slow 2010 Camaro on that pass was Fun too......

But Come on now, Someone Needs to get a Tune on these 5.0's, they run Pig Rich!!

Amen, I wish something was available too!

reach out to BTR racing and tell em to hurry up. I suspect they may have given up altogether on this. Its a shame because now people can buy genesis v8's for low prices because of a few years of depreciation.

Saturday I saw a post by Diablo looking for interest in a Tuner for the 5.0.. The post said "not visible to members." Did not have time to post but I will soon. I have a 2012 5.0 at the Dealer, courtesy of CarMax. Said to be a booster but I think the master cylinder is also a problem. We'll see. Oh yeah, the controller wheel has been a problem for months. Hope they fix it .

*sigh*.....

I'm pretty sure we're going to see some major big tunes - for the 3.3 liter twin turbo v6 - before we see anything for the naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8.

The 5.0 doesn't need a tune.

To each their own, some will agree some will disagree. The 4.6 tune may have a hefty price tag but it increase HP and torque. The butt dyno may not feel the gains but increased throttle response is a big deal. Personally for me I'd love to use a tune to fix throttle response as opposed to a sprint booster.

You do know about the spacer under the air cleaner flapper, right?

G2 5.0 doesn't have a flapper.

The 4.6 picks up 2 tenths and 2-3mph with a Tune, so would the 5.0 as it runs Pig Rich from the Factory...!

I'm an old drag racer (60/70 gas rails) and I am trying to understand why anyone would want to tune a 4,000 lb 4-door luxo-cruiser. I understand the hilarity one feels when surprising a Benz or <gag> Lexus in front of the Dairy Queen but it seems a lot of money must be applied to get a modicum of performance. Besides, I can't force myself to treat my lovely Genny that way.

Many people even tune cars like the E63 AMG, M5, CTS-V, RS7... They're already fast - but if you like fast - then there's a good chance you'll like faster even more.

I've been from gas rails to drag bikes to crotch rockets so I think I know street fast anyway. But as time marches on you have to recognize your physical limitations and I think I know mine. What passed for fast years ago will now scare the betweets out of me because I know should something evil happen I probably could not react fast enough to save my crazy butt. The Genny runs at the ragged edge of very quick for a street car and seldom do I get the urge to show my rear license plate to the 20-something knothead in his hotrod. The power is useful for passing, hill climbing and assorted getaways from bad guys and that is what I use mine for. I remember the adrenaline rush one gets when hammering the throttle but I value my insurance rates and my Genny too much these days to try it out again. I will leave that to you young guys.

P.S. The above confession does not prevent me from occasionally hitting the gas on a vacant piece of good highway just to wake the back seat passengers up. Which reminds me......I need to waterproof the leather back there one day.

I am not being pedantic, but this car with a 5.0 is more like 4600 pounds. Only pointing it out because it's not at an insignificant difference.

I notice that as I get older I have much less desire to see what a car is capable of because I've grown to learn that anything can happen. I see kids flying through parking lots and I probably did the same when I was younger - and even though my reflexes are still excellent - I don't do it because somebody could quickly pull out of a parking spot and change my life (and theirs) forever. Or perhaps that could be our last moment. Part of your problem is most likely the same as mine: common sense...

I'm 56 and a Drag Racer to the Core, the BS about being Too Old anymore is Just That! And there is NO Greater Rush, than Spanking a Newer Camaro with a 4800Lb Luxury Car!!
And seeing the Looks on the faces of folks when they see a Beautiful, Loaded 4800lb Equus Ultimate with a Hood Ornament do a Low 13 is Priceless...lol!

I know how you feel. I beat one of "these" once (see image below) in a midsize family sedan. :)
