  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I went to the track last night with my son and a few friends to finally see what I can throw down. My best run was this 13.386 against a G8 GT, the other two runs were both 13.450. It was 48F degrees outside and my summer tires were having traction issues all night. Details below.

2014 5.0 R-Spec
ESC off (Not disabled)
255/40-R19 @ 25R/34F psi
Modified stock intake
Secondary CAT delete
Modified stock mufflers
Transmission in manual mode and I let it shift on its own

R/T = .751
60' = 2.189
330 = 5.812
1/8 = 8.757 @ 84.82mph
1000 = 11.261
1/4 = 13.386 @ 106.14mph

Sorry, I forgot to link the video...

Very nice run! Close race too!

Yeah, there was 4 or 5 G8 GT's there, half of which were 11 seconds or better. I think I got the slowest one there. Win or loose, it was a blast. What sucks, my R2C intake was on my doorstep the next morning!

I didn't expect it to get to your door so quickly. Enjoy it and if you have questions about it let me know.

It took me 30 minutes to put on and then I was out for a test drive. It has made a nice difference in sound and performance. Thanks again!

Awesome good to hear, enjoy!

You know what I realized last night? I still had a limited production sticker from my local auto shop attached to the intake. Nooooooo. :(

Nice run. You're really not all that far from running 12s in a big family sedan. That's impressive!

I am not complaining one bit about my time! I spent a good portion of the night telling people that the car is a Hyundai. (Only flying H is on steering wheel.) People didn't believe me until my first run and I ran a 13.450. If I ever get a custom license plate for the car it will be "A WHAAT"...

That's funny. What brand did they think is was?

lol that's an awesome idea on the license plate.

:laughing:

Will this Intake fit an Equus? I'm assuming yes, how much is it, and Any Real Performance gains? Thanks!

I am not 100% sure, but it is the same motor and that should not be a problem. The heat shield might not fit perfectly, or not at all. It could be run without a heat shield but that would be sub-optimal. $259 with the Black Hex filter. My butt dyno says there is a good improvement, but I don't have any real data to back it up. Not yet anyways. :cool: Under heavy load / >3k RPM the motor literally roars to life. I think it is just as loud as my modified exhaust now!

I got the following: Lexus or Mercedes with funny badges, Bentley, V8 Tesla :rolleyes:, Honda, and the best one IMHO was "that new Chinese import"! I didn't get any hate, just lots of confusion. Everyone who checked it out was thoroughly impressed. One person even said it was not a Genesis because "those look like Audi's". I had to explain that mine was a 1.5 gen Genesis.

Heh! A little bit of everything I see. Chinese import! :p To some people all Asians are Chinese. But I'm glad to hear everyone was impressed. It's an impressive car - especially at the track (apparently)!

Very good runs! I wonder what a decently driven 1st gen 4.6 would run (figure mid to high 13s)? What modifications: intake, MSA test pipes? Care to elaborate a little more? When I first got into modifications on my other car, my friends would run each other, change something, then run each other again to see how much if any difference was made. I'm probably going to get a baseline dyno and take it from there. May hit the track when it warms up again, too cold now.

Basically what is in my signature minus the R2C intake. (That came in and was installed the day after I went to the track.) The modified stock intake had both of the magnetic flapper doors completely removed. I also capped off the intake resonator chambers so that the air flowed smoothly without them. The modified stock exhaust consists of gapping the flange where the mufflers connect to the stock resonator/H-pipe; just a cosmetic sound mod. Other than that I had 1/4 tank of gas and had the tires at 25psi. The tires are 255/40-R19.

I'd say high 13s or super low 14. I ran my "modified" 2011 4.6 against my boss' 2012 R-SPEC 2 years ago. I launched mine and he was able to pull on me by 1.5 car lengths. I do have video footage that I'll eventually upload onto YouTube.

When you raced your boss, did you have all the mods you currently have?

Yes. Everything you see in my signature for my previous 2011 is what I had. My boss had some conservative sounding Magnaflow mufflers, MSA secondary cat deletes and the R2C air intake.

Modified stock mufflers? I am inquisitive? Can you elaborate?
