  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Searched Lots - Advice on startup knocking noises

I have a '09 v8. I a few engines & several transmissions in my '09 before it hit 70k. This is with a car that I only let the dealership service. I never once had a check engine light come on. I took it in because it jumped when I started it so I had the dealership check it out, and figured it was almost time for a oil change so they might as well do that while they had it. Smh metal in the oil and needed a new tran. Got it back, it didn't feel right. Had a friend put a shop scanner on it and it hit on the same issues again. I say all that to say, if you haven't already it might be worth it to have a dealership look at it. Or take it to a shop that has the ability to run a full system diagnostic scan and see if it hits on anything.

Anyone know the actual plastic eend cap Hyundai filter part number I am supposed to have? Dealer says white felt ends is the one I am supposed to have.

Since you have the 2009 V6 3.8 the part number is 26320-3C250. Here is a website that shows the part number:
http://www.hyundaioemparts.com/oe-hyundai/263203c250

Here is a picture of the filter. Notice the green O-rings inside the black end-caps on top of bottom of the unit:

Keep in mind that the above Ebay vendor may or may not ship you the exact filter shown in the photo and may send you an after-market one instead, but the photo is for the correct one. Any Hyundai or Kia dealer should have it, since it has been used in engines for both manufacturers. At some point for later V6 models (I believe in 2012 with GDI engine), they switched to a different filter with the soft white end caps.

I would consider using a different dealer.
