Clicking Noise between 25-30ml on the road.

This topic was also on another thread. The dealer did replace the entire driveshaft assembly(propeller shaft as well). Noise disappeared and it have been close to 4k miles since replacing...

Hi...... After ownership of the new Model Genesis for awhile..... How do you compare the 1st Generation Genesis withe the model you now have? More reliable, Less ? --- Any rattles in the new Model ? -- I've got the 2011 and 2014 and both have been rock solid..... Thanks

Hi...no regrets, lol
My Rspec was very reliable car as well but, I'd never go back to the 1st generation. Suspension and handling is much better than Rspec. Seats are better - very comfortable, interior, etc.

Right now I'm at ~11k miles and I don't have any problems, except that "clicking noise" from driveshaft.

Issue resolved. The dealer replaced the propeller shaft assembly.

Wow. Propeller shaft assembly isn't exactly trivial component, is it? I wonder if the noise is just a nuisance or if it's an indication of a larger safety issue. Gonna have to call the dealer now. Sucks.

Have this same issue on my 2015 Genesis AWD with about 15k miles. Going to have it looked at in a couple weekends, although I have noticed to be not as bad during the warmer days.

I've had the same issue, I noticed it always happened at 60km in 5th gear. I was positive it was a power train issue until one day I started the car cold in the garage and as it warmed up the rpm's started to drop and then the clicking sound started. I figured out that the sound starts when the car hits 1150-1200 rpm, everytime like clockwork. People have reported it happens when decelerating which is true for me as well but only during the moments its in that rpm range, hence people say it goes away when you hit the gas.

Anyway - my hyundai dealer says its coming from where the flex exhaust pipe meets the remaining exhaust pipe (hope that makes sense) and that its basically becoming undone. His recommendation was to go to a muffler shop and weld in a generic piece. Haven't tried it yet but I will soon. I have looked under the car while the car is exactly at 1150 rpm and you can visibly see that component starting to shake and make the noise. Thought I would share my input, please add if you have found a different fix?

Is this a warranty issue? Why would the factory use the flex unit if it wasn't needed?

Update: Last week the dealer replaced the rear differential. As expected, it shows no improvement. The steady drone above 120 mph is still there.

The drone is most likely a small imbalance in the driveshaft. I have a 4in chromoly drive shaft on another car and it can drone a bit depending at what speed.

That’s what I believe. So in the middle of July they will change the propeller shaft again.

By the way: Hyundai Germany cancelled the Genesis .

Yesterday, my propeller shaft was replaced for the second time. Since then there the car is quiet again. No more clicking noise or drone at higher speed.

I also got my windscreen replaced because I had a big stone strike. Only 25 miles later I had another stone hit.

I heard the clicking noise around 30 mph this morning. It's not something that really bothers me, but would it be bad to leave the propeller shaft assembly as is? Just wanted to hear some thoughts from any gear heads.

left 2015 3.8 Ultimate over night at dealer, told them what to listen for cuz only at cold start up you'll hear the clicking noise. they could not reproduce it. IDIOTS. I guess need to leave car overnight with dealer again and drive down next morning in wife's car and the tech's ear to the center arm rest to hear it. Idiots!

I've also been unable to get them to do anything about it. They even had the center console open to work on a different issue (rear AC vents) and stated everything sounded normal. I don't know how other people are walking in to dealerships and getting this taken care of, but it's been a problem for me because the noise isn't on 100% of the time.
