  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0L to 3.3T?

I've had the pleasure to drive three cars equipped with V-12 engines (Ferrari, BMW, and Jaguar). Phenomenal. The only thing that beats it is an electric car. The owner of the Jag had just tuned it (a nightmare), and asked me to drop into high gear at 30 mph and floor it. We were pinned to the seats.

I've driven a MR2 Turbo for 10 years then a Sonata 2.0T for another 5 years.... I'm so done with turbos. I missed the days of my 5.0 Mustang coupe. That instant torque, you can't get without displacement... well, unless I go electric but I'm not doing that until you can charge a car as fast as I can fill up a tank.

No, just that there is no inventory on their lots making them be in a dealing mood. I have no idea about the price.

I didn't realize the 3.3T was even out yet.

As mentioned by Seejay, only available now on the G90, but is expected to be on the G80 Sport that comes this summer to the USA, I assume as a 2018 model.

V12 most be an awesome experience. I don't see many V12 now a days except for the occasional Mercedes. Most Jags I see are V8 but I just see the XJL

I can only imagine the torgue on a V12.. Good god lol..

Back in 1980, I knew a guy who bought a used Jag V12. Then the Middle East oil embargo hit, and gas lines were long. Getting gas was a two hour experience waiting in line. This guy was getting 8 MPG on his V12 and had to drive 50 miles day round trip for work. That didn't last long.

IIRC, the Jag owner wanted to sell it for 5k (5k more than I had at the time). This was 1974 or so, and I think it was a '71 or '72. It was pristine, all the gauges and electrical worked (a miracle for a British car). The engine had two distributors, four carbs, and mechanical valve lash. Gandalf was needed on a regular basis to keep it in tune. If not, hello 8 MPG (maybe).

The V8 but it needs a louder exhaust.

Guys FWIW I want to share my experience with 3.3T. I have recently traded in my 2015 Genesis 5.0 and moved up to a 2017 G90 3.3T. I had the chance to drive both cars 3.3T and 5.0 back to back. Despite the displacement difference both engines feel exactly the same. V8 feels and is stronger up top. Otherwise in day to day driving both engines feel almost identical.

I personally do not like turbo gasoline engines. More things to go wrong especially with a new design for Hyundai. The new turbos are more for EPA mileage numbers than to benefit the consumer.

i would hope the turbo would be covered under the powertrain warranty??

Im pretty sure the 3.3 will smoke the v8 0-60. I drove both this week and just by feeling the 3.3 feels much faster stop sign to stop sign. Im going back in on Mondy and maybe if im luck I can grab one of the sales men and we can drag (in a safe place ofc) to really crack this nut and see which one gets to 60 first.

I noticed that the 3.3 TT has a more frequent oil change interval than all other Hyundai Genesis and Genesis Motors engines. Usually manufacturers require synthetic for a turbo engine, but not sure about Genesis.
