Last time I looked all cars in Florida had rear window defrosters and nobody seems to complain. Just odd that they base the inclusion of heated seats/steering wheel on AWD.

As for being garaged you are correct however it is highly unlikely they go to work and garage it there also. You are obviously speaking from a retired persons position.

My daughters Elantra has them and so does a Kia Soul, heck they even get heated steering wheels just like the Honda I bought. In fact the Honda is actually better equipped than the Genesis minus the HUD! These are not big ticket items by any means when they appear on entry level cars as standard equipment. Just poor judgement on Hyundai's behalf IMHO.

Speaking of the Honda I bought, there are several items not available on the US yet are standard equipment in Canada. Why do we get ventilated front seats yet the US not? I am sure Floridians are quite ticked off. It's just as cold in Michigan yet they cannot get heated rear seats! Another thoughtless decision by an auto maker IMHO. Here is a quick list of them and most make no sense at all.

- Heated windshield wiper area
- Ventilated front seats
- Power folding mirrors
- Rear climate control panel
- Heated rear seats
- CD player (accessory for US models)
- Rain sensing wipers
- Dual note horns
- Turn signals in the mirrors
- Splash guards (accessory for US models)

People in FL use the rear window defroster all the time to get rid of dew, which occurs almost every morning in FL due to the humidity (if the car is parked outside). It's not just for ice.

As I have said, people who get the AWD Genesis, do get the rear seat and heated steering wheel on all trim levels. It's hard to imagine that someone in Michigan would get the RWD Genesis (unless they planed to not drive the car in winter).

That's a short list - but I agree. The only time my sunroof was ever opened was last spring when a hailstorm bashed it to pieces.

Another good addition would be the voice recognition - a total joke - really a work in progress - right now - pretty laughable.

Do you have a navigation SD card update or Android auto/Apple Car Play? Either of these would help, as the Navigation system update is supposed to improve the VR tech ( I refuse to pay $169 twice a year to get what Google gives me at no charge), and Android Auto and Apple Car play are in a different league when it comes to VR technology altogether - they were designed for that purpose on their respective phones ...

On my wish list would be:

1. eliminating the nag screen

2. having the ability to set a default screen (for me - it would be the climate control screen)

The car defaults to automatic cruise control - though - for better or worse. I don't care that much either way

The following can be installed with a little rewiring:
- Auto turn on of heated/cooled seats (I have done this)
- Auto raising/lowering of sunshade (I have done this)
- Auto drive mode selection - similiar logic can be used. This is probably avoided because of EPA mileage issues.
- Not sure what you want to do with the cruise

LOL, I'm in Texas too, and I wish the car had a heated steering wheel (I have an Ultimate RWD - the AWD would have had that feature, as well as the heated rear seats). All you Canadians, Minnesnowtans, Michiganders, New Englander's and other northern state inhabitants can laugh all you want, my blood has thinned down here and I want a heated steering wheel below 50F/10C ...

Also missing in my opinion:

- adaptive headlights (unforgivable oversight in my opinion, even VW Golf's have that as an optional feature)
- flog lights - front and rear
- ability to display and/or read text message through the multimedia system
- Apple Car Play / Android Auto on the Ultimate spec cars
- working voice recognition on the navigation system (80% failure rate on my 2015 Ultimate)
- folding rear seats (the little ski opening thing is too small for most items, I can't even get my big ladder in the back of the Genesis)
- memory function for: heated/cooled seats setting, auto hold setting, drive mode setting, and adaptive cruise control (every time I enter the car, I press four buttons before I drive to turn all these things on).
- consistent sound output level between different audio sources
- automatic re-connection to Bluetooth audio source after restart of the car
- startup volume setting for audio system (if you leave the car having played something from Bluetooth, and you get back in it will change to another audio input and blast the music way too loud in some cases)
- different sized/shaped controls for adjustment of audio system vs climate control settings - having the same sized knobs within 2 inches of each other is stupid - even the Hyundai corporate person driving with me got this wrong twice in 20 minutes when trying to adjust the temperature in the car

These are things I can come up with in 10 minutes, probably more if I think about it some more ...

A G80 owner complained about the lack of a seat belt chime for occupants other than the driver (there is a tiny red light that flashes). My '06 Sonata tells me this audibly and visually.

For most owners in cold climates, AWD is almost a necessity (unless one has a FWD vehicle), and the Genesis G80 AWD comes with front and rear heated seats and heated steering wheel as standard on all trim levels. I don't live in a cold climate now, but have in the past (very cold). When I lived in a cold climate and was traveling to work and back, I didn't need to worry about heated rear seats, since there was no one sitting in the rear. All Hyundai Genesis models have heated front seats, so we are only talking about heated rear seats.

As far as heated steering wheel, I can see that would occasionally be nice, but if one lives in a really cold climate, then surely one should have a decent pair of gloves.

So your claim that I am ignorant is not accurate. I never said that heated rear seats are useless, just that I understand why Hyundai decided not to provide heated rear seats on the RWD version, since obviously most people who live in areas with snow will get a AWD, which has heated rear seats as standard. Also, I mentioned that the MB E Class sedan does not offer heated rear seats on any version, and it is not even an available option.

Ventilated front seats are o US models and I use them all the time. I even automated the turn on of the cooled seats. I also like the power folding mirrors. I also like most of the other items you listed.
