  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2011 3.8 is white with tan interior. The top of the dash is a light brown color. I've recently noticed it is starting to get discolored - almost powdery looking. It's not dust!

Could it be from using Windex on the inside? What should I use to fix? Is it fixable or just old age (we all know how that is:()

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I use Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant. Right after application, your dash might appear to be a little too shiny, but after a couple of weeks it looks just right (like it did when the car was new).

Do you ever use a sun guard for your windshield? I use it religiously and Turtle wax 2000 protectant + Luxor (misspell). All my cars people always ask what I put on my dash. Never had fading or cracking issues.
Sounds like the sun is taking a toll.

Funny I went by Biglots and they had Richard Petty's old school STP Son Of A Gun protectant. I used that back in the day too with great results.

Windex is bad for vinyl and leather. Alcohol and ammonia will dry out the plasticizer oils from vinyl and harm the finish on leather. Use Armor all or one of the other above recommendations.

Thanks to all. Yes - I do use a sunvisor when hot (Texas is hot!). Windex only used infrequently - maybe once a year (6 year old car now). Will try a spray on protectant and see how it works. Does anyone know - is the dash leather or plastic?

Top of dash is plastic. Some first generation Genesis models had leather inserts in the front of the dash, in which case I would recommend Lexol Leather conditioner.
