  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got today a 2011 4.6L. Looking forward to some rewarding relationship with this monster.
I am somewhat familiar with such monsters, as I come from the S550 discipline.
I registered to MyHyundai and downloaded what they have for my VIN but, the navigation manual they gave me, is totally different than the one in the car.
Mine is controlled from buttons & dial behind the shifter, and in the manual, there are buttons on the sides of the screen...

I'd really appreciate some hints:
1. Is there a (pdf) manual for this type of navigation? If no such manual, can anyone direct me on how to input and address?
2. I see on each audio source (FM, AM, XM, etc.) a menu item "Treble/Mid/Bass". Mine is like grayed-out and it doesn't go lower than Balance/Fader. Any idea what do I do wrong?
3. When opening the trunk, it just clicks and opens ~1/16 of an inch. The trunk lid is very heavy to lift. Is this normal?
4. (Ford) Dealer, where I got the car, only had a single remote. Is the only way to get another one is through a Hyundai dealer?

Thanks in advance!

I am not sure why you could not download the proper manual after you registered at www.myhyundai.com, but I don't have the Tech Package (standard on the 2011 4.6 V8). You might want to send a note to their support people (if they have a way to contact them), or contact Hyundai Motor America customer service.

You "can" purchase a key fob on the internet (either from a Korean parts importer selling on eBay, etc, or another Hyundai dealer that sells parts on the internet as discount prices), but you "probably" have to get a dealer to program the remote for you (and also cut the key).

2. Can you post screenshot?
3. Yes, mine is like that

Thanks for responding Mark & Mozartman.
Learned that the Driver Info System manual, actually includes the Navigation. However, the Navigation Manual, has nothing to do with my car...

MozartMan - No use in taking a picture. It seems to my that whatever menu I'm in, e.g. phone, nav. radio, left or right on the screen, the controller can access either the firs or the last lines ONLY!!!! That's so frustrating.
I'm trying to delete previous phones and I can't, as the controller doesn't go to where it says "Delete"...

Any idea?

Are you pushing the DIS knob left or right to change columns?

adf,

Try to reset your amplifier to see if it helps. Here is procedure:

Step 1. You need to enter the ENG Menu. Users with the DIS knob press the following buttons at the same time. Disc/AUX, Navi/Menu, Back and the Volume Knob on the DVD player).
Step 2. There will be a software update menu, go there and click on the "Enter full ENG mode" option. It will prompt you for an access code. On 2011+ models just enter 0324
Step 3. You'll now be in the full ENG menu . Select "Diagnostics" sub-menu, then select "Reset Component". Select UTA. This should reset the Amplifier.

jlinh, I'm trying to operate the DIS in all directions. It'll only react to Up/Down, First line/Last line.

MozartMan, I though of that, but then again, I can't enter the right line on the menu and furthermore, the "swivel" function (e.g. for entering numbers) doesn't wotk either.

I'm afraid it's a bad module... I see online a Korean company which actually refurbishes those modules...
Now I found my cruise control doesn't work... I'm really discouraged here...

Welcome adf. I'm a new member here also. You pulled the trigger and got one before I did though. Congrats on the 2011 4.6. I think that will be the route I go also. What's the mileage and post some pics to.

dhall57, Congrats to you as well. Nothing to show off about mine. I traded in a fully equipped '07 S550, so also nothing to brag about... :(
Mine has 85K miles and almost everything is either malfunctioning or doesn't work at all: Sunroof crooked and doesn't move (motor makes strange loud sound). Cruise control dead. DIS dead and as a result, radio sound is really bad, NAV only works through voice and hence, only new destinations work, Bluetooth works, but no phone book, etc.... Weak torque (compared to what I'm used to...). 2 tiny cheeps on the windshield. Fog lights don't work.

This are things I failed to notice on the test drive, so you can imagine how frustrated I am...

OMG!
Man I am sorry. Sounds like you have a DUD....

I'm afraid I did, Ambush...

After stupidly signing the "As Is" document, I'm at a damage control phase, which means dealing with all problems.

I have a crazy question, did you purchase from a Hyundai Dealer? If so, are you not able to purchase some type of warranty or at least if you did not purchase from a Hyundai dealer could you go to one and point out all of the issues and see what it would take to fix. Then just RUN it by the sales person to see what they would say??? Maybe?

I purchased from Ford Fairway,CA, and I purchased Ford's "Extra Care". I just doubt it'll work on a Hyundai...

The previous owner(s) must have abused the car. Volume all the way up on sound system or an aftermarket amp was installed and then taken out. Sunroof motor was most likely put in a bind with something blocking it while closing. Maybe a drink spilled on console controls. They may not have performed the maintenance as needed/required if they abused the car in other ways. Good luck, I hope the extended warranty from ford dealer helps you out.
