In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Just noticed the amber round running light is out. I can squeeze my hand in there but if I could remove the little round 'pushpins' I could do it easily. Anyone know how to remove them and get them back in in one piece? Also, is the bulb anything special or can I get them from any auto parts store? I'll be at the dealer tomorrow for oil change so if I can't do it I'll let him do it. Btw it's covered by the warranty but only for 12k/12mo.

Thanks!

Can't tell exactly which lamp you are talking about. There might be specs in the owner's manual.

Even at the inflated prices that dealers charge for those pushpins, it is probably a lot cheaper than the labor they will charge you if they do it out of warranty.

I'm assuming you mean the front turn signals in the first gen. I just changed mine if that is the case.

The bulb is held in by a cartridge that you just turn and pull it straight out. The bulb will come out with the cartridge. It is awkward to get your hand in to twist it off, but is doable with a little patience.

You can buy the bulb at any auto parts store.

Mine is G2 - It's the round amber running light/turn signal next to the headlight. There's a plasic cover/shroud that spans the width of the engine bay above the light housing/radiator etc etc.. I can see the cartridge that holds the bulb but i can't easily get my hand under the shroud to work with it. This shround is held on by many push-pin type fasteners. I don't want to use force while lifting it for fear i'll break the fasteners. I'm thinking there's a way to pop them off or a tool that officially lifts these out?

Thanks

If they fasteners are the ones I'm thinking of, they should have a pin in the middle of them. Just push down the pin with a small phillips head screwdriver or punch and the fasteners should release. You should be able to take them out without breaking them.

The pins came out just as you said, however I can't get the socket housing out to get to the bulb. I removed the wiring plug from the socket and tried twisting it and pushing it in but it doesn't move. Does anyone know the way to remove it?

Thanks

I have a 2015 v6 awd. I just had to replace the passenger side amber bulb and it was a pain. I didn't have to deal with any push pins though. I removed the large round cover on the back of the headlight, then just twist the bulb socket out of the headlight. Then the bulb is a push down and twist release out of the socket. There was no room because of the air box, but for just one hand. Grrr..

Hyundai didn't make it easy, but I just replaced the passenger side amber bulb on my 2015 v5 ultimate, after a dealer quoted me 270 for the job, saying that they will need to take off the bumper and pull out the headlight assembly to replace a damn bulb. At the end of the day, now that i'm thinking about it, it's quite simple if you know the sequence.
First of all definitely take off the plastic shroud - be careful with the pushpins and the sides of this plastic thingie - it goes under the plastic on both sides. Just bend it slightly there and pull and you'll be good.
Now you need to take off that metal arm that goes over the air box - unscrew two bolts on its ends and put it aside - make sure you don't loose any washers from the bolts.
Un-clip the air box - I think there are 4 of 5 metal clips that hold it in place. Also the box is connected to the central piece by a tube?, which is hold by the clamp with a screw. Loose that screw a bit so that clamp is not tight and pull the air box out - just be careful.
Now you have a pretty much unrestricted access to the headlight assembly - remove the dust cap by turning it (i think clockwise?) - it's tight!
Now the amber bulb and its socket is right behind this dust cap. The socket has 2 bumps on it - it's convenient to push on those as you are turning it and pulling it out. When it's out of the assembly, push lightly on the bulb and turn - it should come out easily. Replace the bulb, and assemble the whole thing in the reverse order. Congratulations, you just saved yourself 270 bucks and avoided taking off the bumper and the headlight as my dealer suggested.

Thanks XBO and Tyler. my dlr wanted $50. Mine is the passenger side as well. I finally realized after reading your posts that I was trying to remove the wrong socket! I now see the large twistable dust cover you are describing. Since there are two amber bulbs in there are they on one removable piece or are they in separate sockets? I can get the cover off with one hand but it's hard to tell what I'm grabbing for since I can't see in there. I think I'll have to do the air box cover removal to get some space to maneuver.

This is what a bulb socket you are looking for looks like

Got it done without removing air box cover. Used my wife's smaller hands to get into the housing and worked fine.

Thanks again for your help..
