  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

New to the board, so this is my introduction and first question!!

Just got myself a 2015 3.8L AWD Genesis Sedan, bought it in Calgary and drove it back to wonderful Manitoba (place in Canada lolol)!

So while I was driving back, on a few different occassions, this "BSD Cancelled" warning would pop up on my dash, although I hadnt done anything. At first I thought my knee have hit the button, but really doubt that was the case.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there an easy fix they know of if this happens again?

Regards,

G

Was it in a lot of rain?

There was a person a while back who had an issue with the BSD. It ended up being a wiring connector's hood missing or damaged, allowing water and moisture to enter.

I've had a problem in heavy rain where the cruise and ESC shut down. There was a recall (or TSB; I can't remember which) on the 2015s where they replaced a piece in the windshield area to assist with water intrusion prevention. I would make sure your vehicle has that done.

I think it might have been the rain, will have to wait and see but it hasnt happened since the sun has been out...

My 2015 does this pretty much every time I drive on the highway for 45+ minutes. And I almost never drive in the rain so mine is not related to water.

For me, it usually happens after I drive it through a bunch of mud and stuff. Apparently crap can build up in the back bumper where the sensors are. Dealership cleaned it out last time I went in, and it fixed the problem. Same as adamg, it takes somewhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours of driving for me when it pops up.

I have exactly the same thing happen to me. It only happens after highway driving for 20 or 30 minutes. Looking for a remedy or at the very least a response from Hyundai.

I have G80. My wife hit something and broke the glass on the passenger side outside mirror. I removed the glass and unplugged the connection for the heater and Blind Side Detection. Could this be the BSD problem?

There are no blind spot detectors in the mirrors, there are only the blind spot indicator lights. Of course, you can no longer see the blind spot warning on that side, unless you have the HUD.

The BSD radar is behind the rear bumper cover, on both sides.
Note that BSD can disable if you drive for a long while with no other cars beside you (neither you passing them, or them passing you). They can also disable in bad weather.

My BSD cancelled itself when I was driving through West Texas and hadn't seen a car in "forever" (more than 30min, less than an hour). Apparently, the system shuts down after it hasn't received any input for a certain amount of time. It returned to function after the next key cycle...

I have further information for you on Blind Spot Detection disabled: I noted (elsewhere, possibly G80 forum) that a Canadian driver had experienced this, and gotten nowhere with Hyundai. This happened to me a month or so ago and, although I cannot even guess at the cause, I do know the situation in which it occurs. If the car is driven for an extended period without having another vehicle passing (and probably this also applies to passing another vehicle, as well as being passed) such that the BSD is not periodically activated, the BDS detector locks out, with all the symptoms described. The warning cannot be cancelled, and other displays are blocked out. After an initial (unanswered) email to Hyundai, a second email, which was replied to along the lines of 'take it to a dealer' (despite the fact that I had already opined that, unless a 'tech note' had been issued (which it has not) no dealer could solve the problem because it won't be present at the time, and no dealer is going to test drive the car for hours in ideal traffic conditions to see it happen. I responded again to that and was told to expect a call. 10 days later, I got a call from Hyundai, in which I was told that no one had any ability to call upon the Hyundai factory engineers, as I suggested, other than a dealership, by way of creating a 'case. So the factory engineers are cut off from the essential knowledge, and the customers have no means of resolution in a case like this. As it is a safety issue, I am considering filing a request with the National Highway Safety folk.
