  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picked up a 2015 with signature package last month. After months of looking around I found a great deal that I couldn't pass up. Great car so far, I came from a lightly modded car so it is really refreshing to have a quiet and smooth ride.

Started with some tint, 20% all around with a windshield sun visor. Nothing fancy but definitely a must have in Cali.

I bought a set of mud guards and had them painted, they might get installed tomorrow. I also bought couple of the updated G80 emblems. Likely going on tomorrow as well, can't wait to get rid of the H.

I'm saving up for wheels but it might be a while before I can get them. In the meantime, I'm considering some spacers to get a better idea of the stance. 20mm sounds about right from what I have seen on this forum but I may test a 25mm as well. No plans to lower the car though.

I also heard a secret rumor on this forum that Casablanca White is the fastest color. It must be true!

Those two parked side by side will make for a well dressed driveway.

I assume you know that for the front side windows (driver and front passenger windows), that is way darker than CA law allows.

Enjoy you new ride! .....btw. white was never a fastest color, ever. Nice try, tho :hillarious:

A few updates.
The mud guards are on and I finished the debadge/rebadge. Car looks a lot more expensive now with those luxury badges haha!

I know the tint is not legal, but the legal tint % is barely visible. I had 35% all around on the G35 with darker interior for about 12 years now without any issues so I'm keeping fingers crossed on the 20% with lighter interior. I got ticket insurance on the tint just in case I have to take it off.

I'm thinking about getting the outer perimeter of the grille painted black. I saw it on another member's car and it looked pretty good. I think that painting the whole thing black may be too much for my taste, but the perimeter in black brings everything together nicely in the front. There is a lot of silver going on right now.

Your Genesis looks clean!! And you answered my question about weather the 2017 emblem badge can go on a 2015-2016 Genesis.:good:

Where in Cali are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm also tinted all around. Clean car man, but white is a pretty slow color. However, it's not slower than Empire State Gray, I heard cars with that color are nicknamed "Turtles" :D

My Empire State gray V6 is a piiiiiig!

The badge was not a direct fit. The pegs behind the G80 emblems are different size/spacing, I used pliers to rip them off, a few twists and they came off pretty quickly.

Thanks!
I'm in Southern Cali in the Irvine area. The tint looks a lot darker in the pics than it is in person because of the light color interior, I sometimes get the itch to go darker but I don't want to push it.

I can accept the notion that white is not the fastest color, but it is definitely the cleanest color!

Looks great! Just like mine. And the new badges do look great on it...

How closely does the tint match the factory sunroof tint? Can never really tell in pictures, and I can't seem to find info on what % the sunroof tint actually is. I want to tint, but I want to have the same %, or at least the same look, as the sunroof on all my windows. OCD like that, it's bad, hahaha.

Nice clean car on another note tho! White is a gorgeous color, but Empire State Grey is definitely faster. :D

Was the front badge a fit or did you have to pull the pegs off those too??

thanks!!

I had to pull the pegs off both the front and back badges. Make sure to use some masking tape to mark where the badge needs to be before you remove it completely since you won't have anything to align it to once the pegs are off.

The sunroof is a bit darker than 20%, if I had to guess it’s probably somewhere between 10% to 15% judging the darkness from the inside. I think the real challenge (if you are OCD) is matching the color of the sunroof tint to the window tint. The window tint on my car is grey/smokey while the sunroof has a more bluish hue to it. Again, this is only from the inside of the car. I feel that the outside matches pretty well, especially since tint darkness is all about angles.

Yeah, the tint shop I ended up going to suggested 18%, said it should match perfectly to the sunroof. Must say, it matches quite well outside, and light through inside is pretty well the same. Like you said though, from the inside you can see the difference from OEM to aftermarket. Aftermarket puts a more smokey, almost brownish tinge, while the OEM roof tint is Bluish greyish. It's mildly annoying, but I don't often see the 2 side by side while driving, so I've been able to live with it so far for the day I've had it on. Outside looks pretty stellar.

Hoping the edges around the back glass settle out once it's done curing. He said not to worry about it, should be fine and done blistering/streaking after a few days. We shall see..... :p

Looks great. Welcome!
