  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have the dreaded black screen with no image present. I have the trunk lid covering off and do not see access to the camera. There is a 10mm bolt and wonder if this comes out for access or if it loosens the camera and it comes out from the back. I am reluctant to remove this if it could be hard to get back in. I want to get to the electrical plug to clean it to see if it is a connection problem. Has anybody been to this point with the camera? Thanks, Curt

The camera in all of the Hyundai models sucks. I was told this by a Hyundai Mechanic .I have problems with mine ,works one day the next day black screen . The best option is a after market camera . EBay or Amazon. The dealer wanted to charge me $1150 dollars plus install. $1500 for the total job . I got one off of EBay for $20 . Simple install cut the factory harness, and only three wires to work with. Brand new camera and lots of money saved.

I had a problem with mine, but intermittently, cleaned the electric eye, open and closed the trunk and it worked for me. Sometimes it seems a bit buggy but it eventually worked.

Thanks for the suggestions. My camera works when it wants and freezes..Sigh..I installed a camera in my friends car and it had the lines to FOLLOW while you back up. $20.00. I think I will do that

Having backup camera issues. What camera did you buy and which harness wiring
did you cut to install new camera. Challenged when it comes to installing electronic wiring and such. Appreciate any help you can provide.

Hello sir,

Could you give me more detail?
Should I remove the factory camera and put this camera in the same spot?
Have you been able to connect this camera to the car original head unit?
Could you please explain a little bit about the wiring?

Thanks,

Hi Ambush,

Thanks for the info, my camera just died on the weekend. I took the trunk liner off but have no idea which cable is for the camera since its still covered? how did you get to the original camera to replace it and how did you wire it? I'm not very mechanically inclined so any details would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

Gary.

I had my camera replaced at dealer, $500 all in. I guess corrosion is the culprit. 2009 3.8 Tech
