I have been on the hunt for a CPO 2015 5.0 Ultimate. I have one in my area that has caught my eye. They want 32K (has 44K miles) for it. Is this a good deal?

I think for that money, the mileage is too high. I you like the car, you should be able to get it for less.

What would be a decent price in your opinion?

I got a 2016 3.8 AWD Ultimate dealer demo with 1600 miles for 38K out of the door from a dealer 600 miles from me. TX taxes were extra out of my pocket. I think 32K for 44K miles is way too high. You might be better off checking nationwide using the link below to get an idea of fair prices. They usually don't list the Ultimate option group, so you'll have to look into the interior pics for 9.2" display and wood trim.

Kbb.com says to expect to pay anywhere from 29.9 to 36K for a 2015 CPO Ultimate. 32 doesn't seem like a horrible price, but maybe propose 30K? It's too bad that the Hyundai Genesis is no longer listed on the Hyundaiusa site and you can't perform an inventory search. I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two 2015 V8s out there that were still sitting on a lot somewhere. I seem to recall some places trying very hard to get rid of a couple of V8s still in inventory, though admittedly that was a while ago.

i just did a quick search in my area (Kansas/Missouri) and 2015 5.0 are going for $31,800 to $34k. mileage ranges from 300 miles to 36,000 in those prices. These are NOT Ultimates though. it seems that the one you are looking at isn't a bad deal by any means, but there might be some that are a little better out there. just my .02.
what area are you in?

Thanks for the link. I have actually been combing Autotrader and Edmunds for the past week. This price appears to be fair. Granted the above average mileage, it seems be a pretty good deal.

I will also note it is color I am seeking so willing to throw a few extra dollars at the purchase. I just want to make sure I am coming in at a reasonable price point.

I will look into that option. I see HPP only covers vehicles purchased with less than 36,000. Most 5.0 Ultimates I have seen below this mileage are above the price I am currently looking at even looking 200 miles outside my area.

Keep in mind, especially with used cars, there is a difference between asking price, and what price they accept if you are good at negotiating.

damn, looks like you would have your choice of car if you wanted a 3.8 in the ATL area... :) tons of them out there for good price. looks like Jim Ellis has the most 5.0 Ultimates, in your area.

Yeah, I literally have any option to choose from with a 3.8. 5.0s in my area are pretty limited. I have been eyeing the white one Jim Ellis has. I am going to shoot them an offer this weekend and see if I can get it.

32K for 20K miles, minus 20c for every mile above 20K. I think that is a fair deal for a 5.0 Ultimate.

Expand your search radius to 600 miles, negotiate hard over phone simultaneously with all dealers, conclude your price, take a flight, check the car out in person and be prepared to walk if condition isn't what they say/show in pictures it is, and drive back overnight. This is how I bought mine in Tupelo from Dallas.

Since you are interested in a white one try this from Barnes Crossing in Tupelo. This is the dealer where I got mine from. They will try to stick you with a $399 doc fee above the agreed price, just tell them to give you an out of the door price with all fees included. The salesman who is most responsive one there is Joe Washington. Tell him the recent Genesis 3.8 buyer from Dallas sent ya and that you'd like an out of the door quote and you are searching nationwide. Don't take the bait on them shipping you the car, it's scandalous. You can then use that to negotiate with Jim Ellis, and if they don't match, take the flight to Memphis or Birmingham. BC will pick you up at the airport and drive you to Tupelo.

Thanks for the suggestions.

If my offer gets declined by Jim Ellis this may be an option I visit. I plan on offering them 30K on the CPO. Just off quick calculation, if I find a potential used buy -- lets say, in Colorado. After factoring in plane ticket, gas back, and the cost of extended warranty. I may be breaking even. Correct me if I am wrong.

That screen looks like it is the 8" one, so I'm not sure it is an Ultimate. If it isn't, get a quote and use it to negotiate with Jim Ellis. The salesman might not be smart enough to figure out the difference anyways.

You are better off with the HPP warranty than CPO. That's a 1K benefit.

Yeah, it does not appear to be an ultimate. I have reached out to them though. I will see what they say.

I would like to note, the cheapest white 5.0 ultimate (under 30K) on Autotrader is going for $33,642 and it happens to be a CPO. I may work off this dealer and see how low I can get them and just use it to drive down what Jim Ellis is listing it at.

I am glad to hear you had such a good experience with ecarone. I, on the other hand, had a much less favorable experience dealing with them. I was actively seeking to purchase a low mileage 2016 base model 3.8 starting at the end of April. Ecarone had a large inventory of them including a pair that really caught my eye. I emailed their Sales Manager and offered to buy either one of them or one of two others at a slightly reduced price from what they were listed. He never contacted me, had a sales associate call and say the price is the price, we list them according to market prices, and that is that. I said "hey, this is a nice vehicle, but you bought a dozen of them 60+ days ago at auction and have sold one, maybe you are aiming a little high?" Fast forward two weeks, they since dropped the price on those twice and we were now not very far off. I called again, said "hey, we are close, ask your sales manager to split the difference ($1,195-600=595 off their price), he says he will call me right back, I end up having to call him again the next day, he says I haven't spoken to him, will do it right now, calls me back three hours later and says "My manager says that a deposit has been put on both of those units online last night and this morning". Anyway, it all worked out in the end, I was able to purchase a low mileage 16' in the exact color ext/int I wanted for actually less than ecarone sold them for (I believe), but a little more than I originally wanted, and they have sold five of them I believe and only have seven or eight left.
