2013 Genesis windshield replacement issue

Hi all. 2013 sedan here.
I wanted to pick your brains on this one.
My windshield cracked. It was fully covered by insurance. It was installed a couple of weeks ago.
The replacement is a Soundmaster.
I noticed 2 things right off the bat.

1. The replacement does not have a dark strip strip like the oem did. Yes, it has a small blue strip at the top, but its half the size of the oem. (No, it was not aftermarket) Also, my oem windows are slightly darkened, the windshield is not. It stands out as odd against the rest.

2. Immediately I noticed a MASSIVE nose increase in the cabin. Where before my car very quiet and enjoyable, now the cabin is loud and bothersome. Wind, tire noise, road noise, etc.. fill the cabin - all coming from the windshield.

Now, I was present during the install, and it stood out to me that the replacement soundmaster was much thinner than the oem windshield. I asked about this, and was assured it was correct.

Something is not right. I went from a nice quiet ride to more noise than my winter car, a 20 year old maxima.

So, any thoughts? I've been doing some reading, and in some places I've read that the oem glass is double pane. Whereas this soundmaster most definitely isnt.
Can anyone confirm the oem glass is or is not double pane?

I was not notified the replacement was non-oem. In fact, I was told it WAS, but I didnt notice the soundmaster logo until after he left.
Also, me driver's side pillar cover, that clips in over the windshield side on the outside, keeps popping off. Ugh.
Anyone have any other thoughts? I'm very disappointed, and will be calling the insurance company. But I need facts to present to them.

Soundmaster is made by PGW, which is owned by PPG, which used to make a lot of OEM glass. I would think it would be a quality piece. Hyundai uses Korean Auto Glass for their OEM. At least in the Korea built vehicles. So it's definitely not the OEM manufacturer. If you were told that it was OEM, I'd contact your insurance company and explain what's going on. I sell quite a few OEM windshields to various glass companies in my area. Don't know if it's because there isn't an aftermarket available, or the aftermarkets are of lower quality. I don't recall ever selling a windshield to a first gen Genesis though.

The Genesis uses a windshield with acoustic properties to keep out noise, but I don't know how many laminations it has. If the new windshield is noticeably thinner than the OEM, that is not a good sign. I would ask the installer if Soundmaster has two types of Genesis windshields, one with the acoustic properties and one without. You may have to ask another installer *there are many shops that specialize in replacing windshields).

Another possibility is that there is a bad seal when the windshield was installed.

If it it says SoundMaster in the LL corner, odds are you have the correct windshield with a poor installation.
Look for the DOT number in the lower right corner if it is DOT 904 it is a US windshield if it is DOT 563 it is Chinese. My friend at Safelite says the quality is similar.

So glad I saw this. I have a chip and the company wants to replace it. I asked for OEM Hyundai but they said they will not replace with a $3k windshield. Not ONCE did they say I had an acoustic based windshield. Now I am nervous. I will just try to fix the chip.

If it's only a chip and not a huge crack, the windshield people can fill the chip with an epoxy/vacuum method that is almost invisible when done. The cost where I am is around $25.

The OEM part number is 86110-3M210 and has a list price of $1,010.06 if you have the 2012 Tech Package. It is sold online at discount for $707.04. It has the Rain Sensor and the Lane Departure.

But if you only have the Premium Package, then the part number is 86110-3M230 and the list price is $821.16 and discounted price is $574.81. It has Rain Sensor only.

I would really like to know which insurance companies are saying they will not use the OEM windshield.
