If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you live in Louisiana and want a new Genesis you are out of luck. Because of licensing issues, the state has halted all sales. An article from Left Lane News is attached detailing the issue:

"On July 20 Genesis informed its Louisiana dealer body that it would be suspending all sales, service and marketing activities in the state because it failed to obtain proper licensing. Per Louisiana law, automakers, along with dealers, must be granted a state-issued license to establish a new automotive brand; Genesis parent Hyundai failed to attain that license. It's reported that the dealers didn't obtain proper licensing, either.

"Everything happened at a fast pace," Genesis head Manfred Fitzgerald told Automotive News. "I think it was an oversight."
In a separate statement Genesis said that it is "taking all necessary steps so Genesis sales can resume in the state."
Dealers in the state are currently considering legal action against Hyundai to recoup money already spent on things like floor planning for the new luxury brand. The dealer network may also sue for lost income from the inability to sell or service Genesis vehicles.

"Having said they're a manufacturer and not having their license, that's a breach of contract," said Claude Reynaud, Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association general counsel. But some dealers think there is something more nefarious going on than just a licensing snafu. In June Genesis told Louisiana dealers that the brand was changing its business model and would pare down its dealer count in the state from 13 to just two. Genesis has publicly stated that it wants to reduce the number of dealers selling its vehicles. However, Genesis says there was wasn't "any intent" behind its failure to secure the correct license.

Hyundai reportedly wants to establish a separate dealer network for the Genesis brand, but no concrete plans have been announced."

Duplicate thread.

Somebody didn't get sufficiently paid off.

Perhaps, this explains why when I brought my Genesis in today for my schedule appointment to have my adaptive cruise warning light checked the service advisor stated "we can't provide a loaner." I said, why not, he says because we don't even sell Genesis's anymore. You have to go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge. So I left because I didn't want to wait 6 hours (the time he said he was backed up, even with an apppointment) and called the Baton Rouge dealership. Sir, we do not provide loaner cars for 2016 Genesis's. I said even if you have to keep it? She states "thats correct, sir." I love my car! I should have waited though, the dealerships around me are horrible! I've tried 3 of them within a hour radius and even with an appointment they want you to wait hours! Our Ford dealership gave us a loaner for the day on our 2017 Explorer. Never again, I'm done with Hyundai at least as long as I live in Louisiana! The car is great, but service sucks!! P.S. We were told by the selling dealership in Mississippi they provided loaners just like all other luxury lines. Sorry, just a hectic day off trying to have my cruise control looked at. OH, and lastly, the last dealership left their screwdriver and trash under my hood after an oil change. lol

The 2016 Genesis is a Hyundai, so there is no problem in selling or servicing them. The only cars affected by the lack of license are Genesis Motors vehicles (G80 and G90).

Hyundai dealers are under no obligation to provide loaners for the Hyundai Genesis (2016 or below). Genesis Motors G80 and G90 include concierge service, so they will provide a loaner, except that they cannot sell or service them in Louisiana until Genesis Motors gets their state license for the brand.

When I purchased mine I was told that I would get some kind of loaner car. Not the case, and people who have G80's and G90's will soon find their local dealerships won't be servicing their cars. They'll have to go to their states "Genesis dealerships"
I have been in contact with a Hyundai rep today and we will only have 2 Genesis dealerships in Louisiana. Genesis is trying to have less than 300 Genesis dealerships nationwide. Originally, they were going to do the "dealership within a dealership."
I still love my car! But I had an appointment for 10:15 today for them to check my adaptive cruise and was told they couldn't have it ready until 4. No shuttle service either. So what good is having an appointment? The Hyundai corporate service manager agreed and said he'll find me a "Genesis" dealership that will give me a loaner when this happens again. So I'm satisfied with Hyundai corporate just not my local dealerships. Good thing I love my car! It's amazing, Hyundai dealerships & corporate get your act together! Lol

You do not have a Genesis Motors G80 or G90, which includes concierge service, including a loaner. This is in writing from Genesis Motors.

You have a Hyundai Genesis, which only includes a loaner at dealer discretion. Whatever you were "told" is not enforceable under law unless it is in writing. If you take your Hyundai Genesis to a Genesis Motors dealer, you still are not guaranteed to get a loaner, and likely cannot receive warranty service there (assuming it is a separate Genesis Motors dealer, and not a Hyundai dealer that sells a Genesis Motors G80).

Appointments for service work the same at all dealerships, regardless of brand. They don't know for sure how long it will take to do the service on cars brought in before you, so there is no guarantee regarding appointments.

I am not sure what Hyundai corporate person you talked to, but sounds like he is confused (or you really have a 2017 G80, and not a 2016 Hyundai Genesis).
