  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone.

Dunno if anyone cares but I just wanted to introduce myself.

Just purchased a black 2013 R-Spec 5.0 with 50k miles and I love it. I traded in my 2007 G35 sedan which I also really liked but so far I am not missing it.

My one item I couldn't live without was the active cruise control and I am so stoked that the Genesis has it to.

I was pretty active on the G35 message board for the 4 years I owned it and I hope to do the same here.

Anyways, just wanted to say hey!

Welcome MikeJones916! Congrats on the purchase and nice choice om the Rspec!

Thanks FG.

I am learning a lot already from this message board. Had no idea my side mirror tilt down depending on the position of the selector switch.

Stuff like that makes me love this car even more!

IKR! Same here! I thought it was broken until I found that on the forum! Flipped the switch from the center position and voila. You will find this place to be all kinds of helpful. Just temper your expectations for speedy answers. They usually come, but it's rarely immediately. If you were active on the G forums you'll find this place to be a tad slow on the answers to new posts at times. I was very active on a Mazda 6 forum years ago and had to adjust here. I think it's a product of the average age of ownership truthfully. Lots of young guys on the Mazda 6 forums, 35 and under for most of them. This forum seems to be 50 and up.

Thanks for the advice and yeah that makes sense to me.

The G community also has many more years of owners than say the Genesis has so I imagine that would slow down the response time.

As of now my only critique of the car is I wish I could turn off the amber DTRLs and just have the illuminated eyebrow on during the day.

I know it isn't all that bright but I loathe the DTRLs. If anything I wish I could just turn those off permanently!

Funny, aren't your DRL's white like mine? They are actually the high beam bulbs, I think. Of course, I have the Premium Package headlamps.

I drive with the low beams on 99% of the time. Looks better

Mine are not white, they are yellow and I cannot find out how to shut them off.

The only option is to run the headlights on all the time which I don't like doing.

Hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Welcome to boards!!! R Spec was on my radar when I was searching. It was hard to find it in WHITE as that is the only color auto I will buy. LOL
Anyrate, the DRL that is yellow is a H7 bulb. I changed mine to a XENON look bulb ASAP. That DINGEE yellow was very annoying. I am running HIDS so hi-beams are not used much at all. I would just order a 5000k to 6000k bulb to replace them. :)

Good luck. Whatever you choose will be great!

Ah ok thanks for the info.

So to be clear, is there no way to disable the DTRLs, or even possibly disable and run the illuminated eyebrow?

you could do some hella fide wiring tricks but as far as I see the eyebrows are only on with the headlights. Sorry to say. GREAT IDEA though but it does not work that way. :/

Bummer.

Yeah I'm sure there is some wiring wizard out there that could figure it out but for now I guess I'll just swap out the H7 bulbs.
