  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis hasn't even finalized its list of the dealer groups that will be awarded a Genesis franchise.

Mind you, something that they have been fighting over and willing to turn down up to $4 million or so in compensation in order for the privilege of investing millions.

Aaaaaaany day now.

Aaaaaaany day now.

Now there is some refreshing news. Something we havenn't heard before.

That horse is dead. Quit beating it.

If the horse is dead, why do you keep riding it? Maybe you are the horse?

The 100 dealer plan is a recipe for disaster. Alienation of huge numbers of existing Genesis owners is guaranteed. As a current owner, I won't be buying another Genesis if the nearest dealership to Richmond is in Washington, DC, or Norfolk. Sorry, boys.

An intelligent plan would recognize the current top sales Hyundai dealers (surely many more than 100) and let them continue to do their thing. Sales are what counts. As we all know, Genesis is getting great press and great quality ratings these days.

Most of us current owners don't care if there are two brand signs (Genesis & Hyundai) out front of the shop that services our vehicles. All my current Hyundai dealer needs to do to spoil me more is to set up a Genesis service desk and ensure the presence of Genesis knowledgable salespeople. I don't mind sharing the restroom with an Accent owner.

Actually, you aren't a current Genesis owner - you are a current Hyundai Owner

The 100 dealer plan being talked about is for Genesis Motors dealerships selling Genesis-branded vehicles; not Hyundai dealerships. I doubt they are too concerned what Gen1 Hyundai Genesis owners think. This is a new brand and they are intentionally distancing themselves from Hyundai, whether you like it or not - Hyundai Genesis owners were not promised any special treatment/handling when they bought their Hyundai's (only Hyundai Equus owners were).

Sorry pal, but we all have, or had, the name Genesis stuck onto our trunk at the same factory. Don't be snobby. Do you disagree that current Genesis owners ('09-'18) are prime candidates for future sales? If you do, you are deluding yourself and bull shipping the rest of us.

Sorry pal but I don’t think he was being snobby any more that the folks who replace their Hyundai emblems with Genesis ones are either. Do you think that is snobby (I know lots don’t want any emblems but let’s leave those folks out)? The cold hard facts are that the demographics for the Genesis buyer is changing. Just look at their ads. They are not looking to attract the buyer who wants to sit in a Hyundai showroom and get the most inexpensive luxury car with lots of compromises. Buyers should expect to get a good buy and a fair deal but not necessarily a steal. I think that those days are gone. If that makes you feel inferior and you need to call other people names, I am very sorry, I don’t think it was his intention. Finally yes some but not all current Genesis owners ('09-'16, 2017-18 go without saying)) are prime candidates for future sales.

All that palavering and you agree with me in the end. Seems you are insulting 1st Gen owners too, though, just like the first chap. Is that true, Bud? Is your car better than ours?

I currently own a 2012 Genesis and I am in the market for a different car and a used 2017 G80 is a strong consideration but I am hesitant not knowing whether there will be a dealership close enough. Could be looking at a 2016 Jaguar XF this weekend so it may be too late. They need to get this settled one way or the other.

Precisely!

My '12 GENESIS will likely be headed to my Son someday. My extended warranty runs till 2024.

Don't have to worry about the impending change-over to Genesis dealerships.

All G80s prior to the '19MY (which may be extended) will continue to be able to be serviced at any Hyundai dealerships (in fact, wouldn't be able to take them to a Genesis dealership for warranty work).

Ah, but Hyundai dealers won't be selling, or servicing, any G70 models, nor ANY of the '19 models. That's the central point of this discussion. Of course, YEH knows this.

Where did you get this information from? Are you saying that after purchasing a 2018 Genesis, Genesis dealers will refuse to service them for warranty work. How will that work? They were sold as Genesis cars.

I think the last phrase in parenthesis and I quote “(in fact, wouldn't be able to take them to a Genesis dealership for warranty work)“ is not an interpretation I have ever heard or read. I don’t believe it is correct.
