  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are there any free standing Genesis dealerships anywhere?

In my humble opinion, it was a big mistake to claim that they are setting up standalone dealerships when very little seems to be happening.
The manufacturer does not set up dealerships in the USA. They are generally prohibited by state law from doing that (except in certain situations, such as Tesla). They have to get independent companies to invest in a dealership. The manufacturer can provide some financial assistance, but ultimately independent investors have to step up to create a dealership.

If you would like to invest in a Genesis dealership, contact Genesis Motors.

I thought Hyundai only recently started talking seriously about creating standalone Genesis dealerships...

When all is said and done, Hyundai needs to separate things out and make Genesis-specific dealerships. They need to get at least an SUV/CUV or two ready for production before that endeavor becomes feasible. In the meantime, they can sell cars to the people who are willing to buy them. Remember, people buy $100,000+ Corvette ZR1s parked right next to the $13,000 Chevy Spark.

And they also sell $60-80K Suburbans and Trucks in the same dealership as well...so its really not quite the same

Based on the neighborhoods some of the dealerships are and the fact that you see $99 a month hanging flyers at most Hyundai dealerships...they need to remove the Genesis brand from the Hyundai dealer

As I have said a few times now...that wont happen until they get some sales volume which will probably only come with some small SUV/Crossovers units

The dealership owners are business people in a FOR PROFIT entity
The very nature of luxury car dealer speaks to higher costs ...better neighborhoods..better finished details etc
No way no how is some business man going to build a luxury car dealer based on current sales of the Genesis brand

Unless Hyundai is going to "float" them for a few years of course

All good points made. And, yes - Genesis Motors is going to need the CUVs before sales really take off...

When that happens, get ready for the price increases to support the stand alone dealers.

I for one appreciated the cost savings over the elegance of the dealership. I curbed my ego at the door and still thought I was treated well by the sales force where I ultimately got my G90. Had to even walk over and bag my own popcorn during the event. Sheesh!! I'll take the savings over the schmooze any day.

I agree with Pops. Also, what's this talk about Hyundai dealerships being in bad areas? My Hyundai dealer is practically across the street from the Lexus dealer.

That makes sense
But I think you might be in the minority of luxury car buyers

I think the disconnect comes when people think they are paying bigger money and they feel there is something that lacks their expectations
So..the dealer has to have all those extra perks to satisfy them

There are several in different type of neighborhoods in my area....some far more blue collar/working class
I don't think you would see a Lexus dealer in that type of area

Also..I would bet the luxury car dealers are located near or close to some of most expensive real estate areas in the city you live in?

You might want to read up on Capitalism. Owners, naturally, put their stores where they think they can do good business. It's up to each owner to make those decisions.

I have to agree with Pops also. I guess I am different from most on this site. I bought a Genesis because of the options I wanted and the options I didn't want.
I didn't buy it because it was a luxury car. I bought it because it was a big heavy safe quiet car. The price wasn't an issue.
I DID NOT want a sunroof. I will not drive a car that has a top made of glass. That narrowed down the list quite a bit.
I was getting out of an S Class Mercedes. I loved it because it is a large heavy safe quiet car. It has a sunroof but it is made of metal. Only problem with it was
it's age. It is a 1984 500SEL. Parts are getting impossible to get quickly (think, out on a trip). I still have it but the Genesis has replaced it for out of town trips.
I don't care about the dealer as long as they are polite to me and take care of my car if needed. I really don't like going to the Mercedes dealer. They were just not
my kind of people.
The much lower cost was just a bonus.
