  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,

So my local salvage yard has 2 G80's with a V8. No one is really interested in these as they have gotten no attention and are being moved in the next days.

Now theoretically speaking... If i could snatch one for next to nothing, most if not all the parts should be just a straight swap out? For example, if i wanted to get the rims and larger breaks (or is the reservoir or anything else different) extra ECU to get a tune on, ect ect,

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

I think for those purposes it might be a great deal!! Orrrrr you could buy one, restore it to running condition, and use it as a the developmental car for a forced induction (lots of $$$ I know )

Both of them are actually in running condition, one got rear ended, not as bad as you would think, more cosmetics than anything else and the other was a roll over.. really debating.. but not sure if the price is going to rocket up last minute... i'm keeping my eye on it though.

If your talking about the silver and white one I cant see how an insurance company would write either of those off. Especially the white one. The silver one looks more like something was dropped on it rater than a rollover. I almost wonder if that was the case and the frame and suspension was damaged as well. Have you seen these in person?

Yes the white as well as the Persian Grey one. That are in Sun Valley. I have not seen them in person, it would be the first time i ever actually looked and or even considered getting a salvaged one. The place is only about 25 miles away... I mean really though... how do these work? If no one bids the $100 what happens?

If you are not mechanically oriented, I wouldn't get a salvage vehicle. Dumb question, since they are salvaged is the Hyundai warranty voided?

I mean i'm not a dumb dumb, but also not a expert, i can get around in working on the car and swapping changing things no problem.

I would say that it is going to be voided..

No insult intended. Just the fact that this car may be an endless need machine. Don't want you to commit your wallet to something that could put financial strain on you.

Asking over $6k and $9K now and still going up. No way they are going to let these go for nothing. Would have been a nice find for $100! The white one is still a good deal depending on the suspension but the Grey with no roof will be pretty expensive to fix. But still no signs of air bags being deployed so I don't think these were being driven when damaged. Probably a mess up during delivery.

I'm watching it too, like you said, even at 6k.. that's pretty good deal to have an extra car in your garage to work on or do what ever you wish to it.

I'm probably going to pass on it by now, but i'll defiantly keep an eye out on future ones.

No worries at all did not even take it that way :)

Rather have someone be blunt and honest to me and telling me! Saves me a bit of $$.. haha

Unless your rebuilding them and flipping them, buying a wrecked Genny 4 door is not my idea of a fun project car. I'd take a 4 rotor RX7 over the genny lol.
