If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I’m the market right now of potentially purchased a used 2016 genesis awd 3.8 w/47xxx kms. Went into my local Mazda dealer to check out the new Mazda 6 and stumbled upon this. Fits my price range, currently driving a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado (v6,3.5L) .. need something better on gas with lots of room in the back.
I’m currently averaging 15mpg (16L/100kms) do about 65city/35highway.

Just wondering how everyone is averaging on their gas mileage. I have car until tomorrow evening when I have to return, love the car.. quiet, smooth, in love with the exterior.

Car checks all my boxes off, just unsure if I would save gas per month. How many miles/kms range can you guys get out of a tank?

Also can you purchase extended warranty before 100xxx kms

Anyways that’s enough questions out of me, just need some direct answers to ponder over before tomorrow evening.

Also trying to figure out what trim it is, brochure says awd adds heated rear seats/heated steering wheel but has neither.. assuming it’s base.

Thanks
Dave

If it is Ultimate it will have the 9.2" screen, base and tech will have 8"
On the new model AWD adds the heated seats and steering wheel but I don't know about the 2016. I had it on my 15, but I also had the Ultimate package. Since you speak kilometers you may be in Canada and models may differ.
When I was working, I averaged 23 to 25 mpg. Now I do less highway, more city and get about 18 - 19 Range was about 400 miles.
If you live in cold country, the heated wheel is really nice, as is AWD. You may want to double check what you have. The AWD is about $2000.

Great car, hope you get it.

Thanks for the info!

Previous owner must’ve had a dog, few deep scratches on front passenger inside door (top part of the door- almost like window was open and dog stood up to put head out of window) just thinking if I went with genesis how expensive to get replacement piece. Exterior wise care is mint.

Noticed there’s no remote start on key fob, was reading on this “bluelink” service there is, even though the car doesn’t have remote start can you start it with blue link?

My dad retired a few years ago and drives shuttle for a local Hyundai dealer and advised “don’t buy Hyundai, there always in the shop”, although after mentioning what car I was looking at he loves the genesis.

I do lot of driving daily for work (minimum 2000kms/month) and car will only have base warranty - 5yr/100xxkms .. cars mileage is almost half way there, needless to say in just over two years I’ll be approaching the 100xxx kms.. read the thread about long term ownership/maintenance and thread was pretty positive with upkeep costs. Just wondering how good the HPP extended warranty is which I will most likely have to buy before base mileage runs out.

Just weighing out a few options, as I will be burrying some negative equity from Truck into genesis loan, I need to keep the genesis for atlesst 5 years so I want to make sure I make the right choice which doesn’t end up costly in the end.

I’ve been on forums for other platforms in the past for vehicles ive owner, I know I can read every review out there, but knowledge & experience from actual owners is very tangible info when considering a vehicle.

I love the car. I have a 2015 AWD 3.8L Ultimate. The car is good looking and quick. I get about the same gas mileage that the previous poster gets... and you can use regular gasoline. If you want Android Auto, don't get an Ultimate. you cannot update, I was very disappointed with that news, but the car itself, you won't be disappointed with the ride quality. I haven't gotten to check out the AWD in use as I just got mine in February. Just make sure your buying the trim that has the features you want because you may be pissed if you don't have a feature you want. The only thing I don't like about the 2015 is the lack of fog lights and the amber DRLs.

I did read up on the android auto when I got my ultimate, still doesn't bug me enough, plus the DIS controller rather than touching the screen all the time.

Also the HUD is nice to have.

I'm a Canadian owner of 2015 AWD Tech trim. I keep a record of all my gas fills, etc.
I have 43000Km on my car now. I drive average of 25 highway and 75 city.
I can be a bit of a "lead foot", so I don't try for good mileage.
My best is 7.4 lt per 100 (highway at speed limit), my worst is 17 lt per 100 (all city and below 0 temp).
My average for the 43000 is 11.4 lt per 100 (and I could do better if I used the ECO setting and didn't think I was back in my hemi road runner (I'm old)
Hope this info helps.
I also had 90000km on a 2010 Genesis and got slightly better mileage than above, but it was only rwd.
Also, all I've ever done with either car is change the oil, tire rotation, and new tires on the 2010.

I can do 11.4 on a good day, (25 mpg) but never came close to 7.4 (38 mpg) except for short distance down hill. You really did that one an entire tank?

Ended up speaking with a salesman from my local hyundai dealer to get a little more info on the car, explained to him the features it had and he told me it was a rental :(( Hyundai I guess made a special package for rental companies (base model w/ a panno sunroof). Once he told me that, the decision of not buying this car was immediately in my head. Furthermore 12,000ish more kilometers and the base warranty would've been up. I asked how much extended warranty was and he told me 3-4k .. so that was the final nail in the coffin. Took the car back to dealer and explained them my doubts with the vehicle and on top it wouldn't be much difference of savings with gas compared to my truck. They emailed me yesterday and offered a $500 gas card and $1000 off the price on the car but that didn't nudge me at all.
The first car that was on the top of my list was the 2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5L T(fits my budget, great on gas, enough room for 2 car seats & dependable). So it came down to the accord and a 2017 mazda 6, decided to go with the accord, the new sales manager and he offered $1500 more on trade in & $1k off of price.

The Accord will likely yield 30-plus fuel economy, while my former '16 3.8 AWD struggled to exceed 26 mpg in highway driving. That might have been due in part that it constantly downshifted when encountering even smallest grade (even at 70 mph). If fuel economy is of any concern, both the Accord and Mazda are better choices.

That particular time we were in the mountainous regions of Montana and driving probably somewhat under 60mph most of the time. I find our car gets incredible mileage if you stay fairly even and somewhere between 50 and 60 mph. (I was also going downhill a lot, so just took my foot off the gas)

The Accord and Camry were redesigned for 2018. I would check out the 2018s.

AWD is a big benefit if you have snow. Neither of the other cars you are looking at have it. AWD does come with some fuel economy penalty but worth it in snow country.

Yepp, going with a 2018 Honda Accord. AWD is nice but with a good set of snow tires I’ll be fine. Up until the truck I’ve always had FWD vehicles and never had issues yet *fingers crossed* lol
