  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Best Battery for 2014 RSpec ?..................

I went with a NAPA AGM battery and it only lasted 1 year (disappointed).
AGM batteries from AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts have a 3 year warranty. The list for about $190, but they often offer at least 20% off when purchased online for in-store pickup.

The factory and replacement batteries from Hyundai are H8 flooded, not AGM. It's still an expensive battery for being flooded. $186.36 is list price from Hyundai. All 2009-14 Genesis take the same battery, no matter which engine is in it. They went to an H9 AGM starting in 2015.

The factory and replacement batteries from Hyundai are H8. It's was $186.50, plus labor for 62.50 from Hyundai = $249.00 for my 2012 Genesis 4.6V8. I call AAA they change the battery at my house for $173.67 total. Hyundai is 740amp, the Interstate is 760 with 100% Warranty for 3 years and prorated for the next 3 years. If it goes bad in the first 3 years it is replaced free and the Warranty starts over. Sound good to me.

The factory battery that came in my 2011 Genesis 4.6 was an AGM and when replaced I used the proper AGM battery from Advance Auto parts.

Coming from the shop manual, it shows flooded.

Thanks but the battery that I seen in my trunk was a unlimited power Rocket Sebang Global battery co., LTD. I guess this was the original in the 2014 Rspec got to do some homework

AGM battery from Autozone I recommend 100%. I used them in my last vehicle (Acura TL with a 1500 watt stereo), in our 2007 Tahoe with all sorts of electronic things that suck power and the Genesis. All have worked great and only replaced 1 under warranty (free). The others have lasted 4-5 years and at that point I replace no matter what.
Cost about $190 as others have said and it is handy with so many Autozone locations if you have an issue.
If anyone pays $60 to install this battery...well please send me some of that money so I can spend it better because it is easy to replace! :)
Again - get an AGM battery and you will be happy. They take the abuse of high power drains and recharging much better

For the H8 Size Group 49, is the Platinum battery worth the extra cost, or asked differently what does it offer extra over the Gold battery? Thanks!

Bought a champion battery H8 AGM 48 month for my genesis the Rspec can take H8,BCI or Group 49 and the big boy. H9 or 95R that what the 2014 Rspec takes and if you take your battery out u will find a three hole for a smaller battery you got to do your homework for that. Dealer couldn't give me info on the other hole for the hold down plate. P.S. I took a piece of cardboard make a template of my battery and the other battery that can be use it works great be care removing your battery without backup power source. Thanks guys for the info.

The battery on my V6 is 4 years old now. I believe that I read that the larger battery also fits my car
