  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis is hoping to distance itself from its Kia and Hyundai stablemates by establishing its own retail dealership network over the next few years. The new network will work by having Genesis dealerships conduct business from both shared and temporary facilities while the company builds standalone buildings. The goal of the network, which should be around 100 retailers, is to enhance the overall ownership experience, which is an area luxury automakers are expanding into in hopes of winning over new customers who want something more than just a place to buy and service their vehicles.

“At Genesis, we believe in putting our customers first and giving them a proper ownership experience,” says Erwin Raphael, General Manager of Genesis Motor America. “To ensure that happens, we need to take this next step in the separation of the Genesis brand from our parent company. Establishing a right-sized Genesis retailer network, as our product portfolio grows, will ensure the Genesis brand can succeed and thrive long-term within the luxury automotive market.” Read more...

I may be wrong, but I think that picture is of a building in South Korea.

Does it matter where the building in the photo is standing?

It seems that Hyundai doesn't comprehend the vastness of the USA and Canada. It will be interesting to see just how many, otherwise good, current Hyundai dealers will be abondoned in this "upscale move." Many potential customers will likely be abandoned too.

I think it does. Genesis and Equus have always been separate brands in Korea, which is why we can get wings to replace the flying H on the 2009-2016 models sold as Hyundai's in the USA.

The article says that a new Genesis brand is being launched in the USA, but because there are no dedicated Genesis dealers yet, they use a building in Korea, which is fudging things IMO, and misrepresenting how far along the new brand is in the USA.

So, you smell a conspiracy? I think our webmaster just selected a photo to give his post some additional color.

Pretty plain here that it is their Korea building.

More accurately, Genesis and Equus were their own distinct sub-brands (Genesis and Equus each having their own distinct badging).

That's how it always was w/ the Equus, including the 1G model that was developed in conjunction w/ Mitsu.
