  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picked up my Genesis 3.8 yesterday :D and when looking under the hood with the engine off, I noticed a faint beeping sound coming from the engine compartment. I narrowed it down to the fuse block on the passenger side adjacent to the firewall. I have no idea what it could be and I'm waiting for the sales or service department to get back to me on what the beeping could be. I obviously can't hear it when the hood is down, but I'd certainly like to know if it should be doing that or not. Any ideas?

Could someone be tracking you with a GPS type device? <grin>

OK, all kidding aside, I have a story very much like yours. One day, while driving a car I had a few years ago, I kept hearing a "Beep". Could not find where it was coming from. I timed it, and found that the beeps came exactly every two minutes (120 seconds) apart. Did not matter if engine was running or not. I checked everywhere in the car and thought for sure it was coming from under the dash. Took the dash apart, but not there. Whenever I moved my head, from side to side, the beep sounded like it came from a different area. Could not find it. (Inside a closed car, the sound never comes from the area you think, as it bounces off the glass, headliner, sides, etc.)

A couple days later, while getting something out of the back seat, there it was! A Pager. (Remember them?) This was the thing that was cheaper and smaller than a cell phone, and when someone needed you to call them back, it would beep then post the phone number for you to call back. Well come to find out, someone I had in the back seat the day before, dropped it there. Then when someone called the pager number, nobody was in the car to read the page, so it just beeped every 120 seconds until someone read the page. (Yep, for a while, I thought I was being tracked <grin>).

Hope you find where your beep is coming from.

Was not aware that Hyundai was from North Korea. ;)

The beeping is very faint, but more like 1 to 2 seconds apart.
