  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone heard the exhaust of the NA version of the G70 ? A timid exhaust is definitly a deal breaker for me for this price i would even accept an aftermarket if it didnt void warranty

From what I read they pipe this fake exhaust sound thru the speakers and you can change the settings to how much you hear.

"If you thought funneling engine noise or creating fake engine noises through the audio system was crazy, Genesis has taken things to a new level with its Active Sound Design system. Essentially a program that lets you choose how loud your car’s exhaust note is, Active Sound Design gives you three sound levels to choose from: Normal, Quiet or Enhanced, the latter being the loudest. You can also turn it completely off if you want to keep the cabin as serene as possible. For the U.S., Genesis has also ordered up a louder exhaust system to further emphasize the G70’s sporting character."

There is no NA engine in the G70. Both engine options are turbocharged.

Im looking for the snap , crackle and pop of something like the amg exhaust or m performane exhaust i guess if its fake sound but still has that it should be fine but there is a difference between engine sound and exhaust note i just wish there was a way to open the exhaust valves with push of a button similar to the german brands

I'm glad to hear that Genesis will have a somewhat more aggressive exhaust sound for the US cars. I don't necessarily want it to be especially loud, but to have the character I associate with a higher performance engine. The synthetic sounds inside the car are fine, I guess, but I want the car to sound from the outside like the performance-oriented car that it is. Again, not really loud but, well, substantial. As an example my 3 liter Z3 had a really nice growl at low RPMs that transitioned into a strong, higher-pitched purr at full throttle. It wasn't rattling windows but if you heard it at a light, you knew you weren't next to a Prius. Even my current Infiniti QX50 has a fairly nice exhaust note. It's nearly silent at low throttle but has a definite growl at full throttle. I'd want and expect the G70 -- as a more performance-oriented car -- to have more than the QX50 but that car is a good example of a car whose sound has character without being obnoxiously or embarrassingly loud. And I do like a car that makes more noise at full throttle than at lower RPMs and only partial throttle, one that offers a bit of a sonic surprise when opened up. I also think that's a fitting characteristic for a sports sedan that serves as a luxury ride some of the time and a sportier ride the rest of the time.

Straight pipe the G70

Really need to stick in the 2.0T from the i30N into the G70 along with the exhaust system.

Yowsa!
That'd be my (or my neighbor's) idea of hell if I had to listen to that on a regular basis on my or someone else's daily drives.

Sounds cheap to me.Slightly better that some of the Celicas the teenagers play with.

The car sounds nice. I've cold-started and revved a G70 3.3T Sport a few days ago and it sounds nice. Not boy-racerish but good.
