  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've got a 2017 g80 sport and wanted to see what tires people are having that ride good and would give good mileage for me here in Southern California.

Depends on the qualities you are looking for. More touring or sport? I'm a big fan of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Good mix of attributes, but a bit louder than the Conti's all ready on the G80.

Okay thanx really just want opinions to see what others have and see which route I wanna go. I do alot of highway driving so looking to have a good ride out my next set.

I'm happy with Pirelli P-Zero All Season. Highly rated by CR and very quiet.

I've had nothing but problems with Contis. Got rid of them when they started to sidewall blow outs about 35K. Side walls apparently don't age well. This is a known problem. Also flat run if stored for a few days, balance problems. Gone to Mich Pilot Sport 3+s. Great tire in every way. So superior to Contis, and prices are comparable..

Different car. Different weight and distribution. No AWD. Different wheels and tires (Conti PROCONTACT TX are not compatible with 2013 R-Spec).

Also, 35K is a very reputable age for a sport-oriented heavy sedan. I wish all my tires would make it to 35K.

While I'm not a big fan of the price and sidewalls on PROCONTACT TX, they are better in rain/light snow and quieter than both Hankooks and Pilots that replaced them on my 2015 Genesis. But the price is crazy.

I equipped my previous SUVs (X6, ML) with Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I can highly recommend this model as an all-season performance tire. Reasonable price, great traction. Isn't an option for G80, unfortunately.

Does anyone know Genesis's (or since it might be too early for lease returns - Hyundai's) requirements for the tires for the lease return vehicles? Should it be only originally equipped tires? Thanks.

My Extreme Contact Conti's all had side wall problems, flat spots and balance problems which the Michs don't have. I will never by a Conti again. Found no better than Michs in rain and snow, infact Michs 3+s gave a better feel of the road under all conditions, particularly at the extreme edge. Also as the Contis wore, became noisier than Michs. Tire dealers locally tell me they have more Conti warranty problems.

If the car came with run flats, it needs to be returned with run flats.
The tires size should be OEM (the same as the size the car came with) and rating.

Most of the time they just look to see if the tires are worn out and need replacement.

Yes, and no. I've returned my x6 with Contis with no problems. Do you have any experience with Hyundai and/or Genesis?

I do not personally as I just bought my first Genesis. But I was speaking in general terms the car should be returned with basically the same tires it was delivered with. In other words if they had 18" tires don't return it with 16's or 20's. Brand name they don't care. Maybe if you returned it with real snow tires they might. Many times these cars will end up at the auction, when I say these cars I don't mean Genesis per se again it will depend on the make, model, mileage, condition, etc. Can you imagine the number of leased Camry's that get returned each year......

I just filed a complaint with the NHTSA asking that they start an investigation into the sidewall issues with the Continental Procontact TX tire.

Everyone with this issue should do the same thing - https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/
