  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this.

I bought my used 2G Genesis in January. Went to my local Hyundai dealership recently to get the oil changed and general tune up. While I was there, I took the opportunity to ask them what kind of work has been done to the car in the past. They could only see recall/warranty work that had been done... the standard stuff.

Things I thought were interesting...

The right rear door handle chrome cover broke at some point. It was replaced under warranty.
The previous battery was replaced under warranty.
The tail lights were removed and some type of soft foam was added to prevent rattling or something. I can't quite remember what she said.

That was about it.

The tail light work was an early recall.

The Genesis has had a lot of posts about battery failure - there doesn't seem to be a consensus as to why.

If you have a V8, it's a bear doing an oil/filter change - dealers are known to screw it up. Which is why I do it myself.

All in all, my 2015 is the best car I've ever owned - not one single problem so far. The V8 is nice.

My battery was also replaced as well as those trim pieces that retain the rear door handles to the door. All under warranty. I could see those trim pieces were over torqued during assembly cracking their threaded plastic mounts. The replacement part has to be painted to match the color of the car otherwise it takes them about 20 minutes to put the new piece on. If the part broke on one of your rear doors you might anticipate the other side breaking also like it did on mine. My Genny otherwise has been a great vehicle.

Nice. I have the V6. What exactly was the tail light recall? I'm reading something about water intrusion - maybe thats what the service advisor said. I was actually very hesitant to take it to the dealer for an oil change. I usually avoid them like the plague. My usual spot is a Mobil-1 owned by a family friend - quick and easy. But since this car has the plastic shield underneath, it would be a major pain in the ass for them. I'd have to take it off before I went there and after years and years of taking plastics off of sportbikes and other motorcycles, I'm sick of doing that. Someone else can do that crap.

I am anticipating that the others will break eventually. We'll see. Been a good car for me as well.

Right - the recall was to prevent water intrusion into the tail light ass'y.

Ok. All known recalls were completed before I bought the car. Pretty good vehicle so far.
