  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis mississauga boutique

I guess you're referring to the fact that I posted in each of the vehicle forums? I considered whether that was appropriate prior to posting, but decided there might be Genesis owners who only post in one particular forum (ie. G70, G80), and I hoped to reach owners of all of our vehicles.

I am actually not a salesman - I manage the boutique. And yes, I am an enthusiast of the brand, as well as cars in general, like many of you. My goal is to be a resource for interested members, to chat about the cars, share my own passion, answer questions when possible, and invite interested members to visit our new location.

I hope that clears things up.

Appearantly, the fellow forum members do not understand sales. If they did, commenting on said topic wouldn't be as issue. Many forums have dealers that work directly in the forum to help potential buyers. Unless I am missing something, no where in the "rules" or "regulations" state he can't do what he's doing.

CL@Genesismississauga, keep doing what you're doing and welcome to the forum. I understand sales and nothing that you stated above was unprofessional or "crossed a line." Even if you aren't selling, it's good to have a connection for some Canadian buyers here in the forum. Good luck with sales on the upcoming G70 and future sales of the Genesis brand. I apologize for the less than welcoming replies.

Edp and PMCRny, i was having a bad day... Sorry i came hostile and name calling. It doesn't mean I agree with your post just apologizing for my action.

At one time, there was a special forum section for cars and parts for sale, and it was pretty strictly enforced. Also, vendors were supposed to register as a vendor (or something like that). Not sure if those rules still exist, but probably a lot of members remember those rules.

But it is bad form to post the same thing twice, since very few people read new posts only in one section. Hitting the New Posts button shows everything regardless of what section it is in. I can understand how a new member might get confused about how that works, but that is the way it works in this forum and just about every other forum I have used.

Edit: This is the section where the post should have been made (one time). Almost everyone would have seen it, because almost everyone uses "New Posts" to read stuff on this forum:

G'day guys,
New to the forum and impatiently waiting for the G70 to launch in Australia.
Question for you. Has this forum been started by, and is run by Genesis Corp?

Don't apologize for me. I've not changed my opinion. If you want to advertise, there is a simple way to do it
https://genesisowners.com/advertising.html

One post is not a big deal, but when you make many, some of us consider it blatant self promotion under the guise of "I'm here to help"
If he hangs around and participates, (even becomes a supporting member) he can become a welcome and trusted resource. . . . we'll see

Hi Chris. Welcome to the forum. As a fellow Canadian, I appreciate any information on how the "new" delivery system works for the Genesis brand now that dealerships are out. I assume that your primary focus is the greater Toronto area, but since I live 3+ hrs from your location does that mean that for now Genesis is out of reach for our area?

I'm on my third Genesis (09 V6, 12 R-Spec, current 15) and obviously think the car just keeps getting better. I made the move to the 15 for a couple of reasons, one of which was the supply of "dealer demo" units at substantial savings. My last two cars were demo units and as such, great deals. Mating the 5.0 with AWD, styling changes, and other new features helped in my decision. I did assume that discounted demo units in any great numbers would not be as possible Genesis' new sales system. Am I correct?

I just drove back from Florida and just love how this car runs! Now, if it could do something about the traffic jams on I-75...

No, this forum started as genesisowners.com back in 2008 when the first Hyundai Genesis was released by someone not associated with Hyundai or Genesis.

Thanks Mark,
Does seem to be a few Genesis dealers/salesmen in here. That's to be expected though. I'll get to know them quickly enough and sort the bias from the accuracy.

I'm sure that your boss Nav Bahtia believes that you are working there to sell cars. But posting in six different forums here is not necessary.

Yes, of course the boutique's goal - and mine by extension - is for us to sell cars. Is it not possible to be both a car (and Genesis) enthusiast while working in the automotive sales industry? As mentioned in my original post, I actively sought out a position with Genesis. There were two key reasons behind my decision:

1) A family member of mine owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan and I have seen how much he's enjoyed the car and appreciated all of the questions from curious motorists, and..
2) I have been following the progress of Genesis (along with most other brands) and have been hugely impressed by the people they have hired to design and engineer their cars - particularly the upcoming models - and their model of catering to their customers without outlandish extra/hidden costs.

If you were to ask me specific questions about the vehicles, you might discover I'm not "just a salesperson". I've already received some great questions and am looking forward to answering more for those who have them. Unfortunately, I can't change the perception (or the mood) of pessimistic individuals.

PMCErny and Edp, you guys are evil. Why are you attacking the salesman he is doing his job to make living just like everyone else. Are you guys in Genesis car forum or not?? If he is really breaking the rules the admin in this forum would stop him. Behave yourselves. How do you like it if someone comes to kick you out because you can't find a place to sleep and eat because you don't have money? Don't go policing the forum it is not your concern.

Much appreciated. I actually communicated directly with Sal prior to making my first post here so that I could absolutely ensure I wasn't breaking any rules as a new member.

I have already apologized if my original post came across as a bit "salesman -y", and explained why I posted in each forum individually. Beyond that, all I can do is talk to, and assist those people who genuinely want answers and help.

That's very kind of you, Dan. I greatly appreciate the supportive sentiments and am looking forward to interacting with the members here!

Thank you very much for the clarification, Mark. I was absolutely unaware of the option as someone who just joined. I can also understand why people would not want to read the same post repeatedly. Again, not my intention.

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the reply and questions. In Canada, we have a number of locations, but obviously not the same coverage (yet!) as many other (premium) brands. That said, if you wanted to experience a vehicle, the best suggestion I have would be to contact the closest Genesis retailer and discuss the delivery option. I believe we could be the closest to you, so I could speak with one of our sales staff and find you an answer.

As for demos and used cars, yes, there are are very few available on the market now. Part of that has to do with the fairly small volume we have as a brand so far, but also I'd hope it's due to the fact we now have the #1 owner satisfaction score in the industry! People keep these cars.

That said, I do know there are some discounts to be had for vehicles that were used as demos and/or the few remaining 2018s as the 2019s begin rolling out.

Hope that helps!

G70 is in the house! And good lord is it a stunning car. Lots of people stopping to look and take pics so far.

If you haven't seen this car in the metal, and live anywhere near the GTA, I HIGHLY encourage you to come and check it out.

As a reminder, the aggressive pre-order deal wraps up tomorrow (Sunday, April 25th) at midnight!

Disclaimer: before someone inevitably says "pics or it didn't happen", we are under an embargo of sorts until the start of May for posting photos. Genesis Canada wants us to wait until the media have their official access in the next couple weeks. Trust me, I'm dying to share some!

I thought tomorrow was the 15th. Maybe in Canada the calendar's are different? ;)

Haha oh no, you're right! The unfortunate result of typing fast when trying to take care of too many other things! That was meant to read APRIL 15th. The pre-order deal has come and gone.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post but I have been dealing with Terry from the Mississauga dealership. I gotta say, he has gone above and beyond for me .Terry has been great in going out of his way to make sure the whole experience has been easy and has accommodated all my whims and requests. He came out and we did the test drive. I loved the car and went forward with it after looking at the BMW, Audi and Mercedes. After I agreed to it I called him on a whim to see if he could go to my wife's office so she could test drive it and he didn't even hesitate.

I will say, I am not an easy person to deal with, I work in sales and I pride myself in providing a high level of service for my customers and I expect the same. Terry has be awesome.

Now my wife ... she's a little more demanding ... She wants the glass trailer delivery lol!

Well in Canada Genesis vehicles are currently ordered online only, through the Genesis Canada web site. The boutiques are a way for shoppers to see the vehicles and get their questions answered. If you want to test drive a car Genesis will bring the car to you home. So the OP reaching out to Canadians in the Toronto area, to let them know about the new boutique and his role, appears to be quite appropriate on a Genesis forum.

As was previously stated this is a world wide forum. Chastising the OP and insisting you know best and that you set the rules on a forum that you are not the form admin of is childish and arrogant at best.

I think you just did that.

Thanks for not posting your comments in six different forums here. That would have been rude and contrary to protocols.
