  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I have a love hate relationship with the LS 460 F Sport, while I want one, there are a few things holding it back vs the current Genesis/G80 cars. Now granted this should be more of a LS vs G90 type thing but I'm gonna throw out some of what I found interesting between the two and why I still can't seem to get a LS.

The good

-Crafted line black/red leather interior is unique and edgy, materials feel great leather and fit and finish is great on this type of car.
-Stiffer chassis than the Genesis, partly because it only has a moon roof vs the pano roof.
-On a different level of isolation from outside, if you though the genesis was quiet the LS is even nicer.
-Smooth as butter power, def not meant to be driven in a hurry, can it get up and go? yes! but its not that type of car. I would guess the 5.0 Tau V8 would have a similar feel.
-It's a LS.
-Air suspension feels nice.

The Bad

-I have tested 3 LS460s on serval occasions and everyone has worn interior, and I mean worn like the materials just can't hold up to daily use. The leather have scratches and folds, and spots that are just ruined. The console with the ac controls seems to scratch super easy and just looks like a beat up old car on the inside. This is 3 different cars all have the same feeling.
-Interior and navigation graphics feels dated, it makes it feel like a older model than it should.
-The AWD system doesn't seem to have the activeness of the genesis, the awd on the genesis seems to help in the corners and balance the car out, after driving other awd systems the Genesis is far superior on this.
-Lack of gadgets for the price, no active cruise, no AEB, no lane assist if I remember correctly, it does have BSD, and auto hold.
-No HUD either.

While this should be a comparison against the G90 but vs the G80 I'd stay with the g80, I want to like the LS but the lack of features and the interior quirks just doesn't do it.

Since someone is bound to say it, I might as well be the one: the Predator grills on modern Lexuses (Lexii?) are a deal-breaker for me.

Plus the fact that the Genesis is better equipped for less money.

Take it from a former LS 460 owner (2010 model) - don't get a car with an air suspension! My rear air struts started leaking and they cost an arm and a leg to replace; to the tune of $1600 per corner! and that's by getting oem struts installed by an independent mechanic. At a dealer, you're looking at $2k per corner. The air suspension is very nice and makes sense if you live in a warm weather state, but everntually will break down. On top of that, most aftermarket warranties don't cover air suspension parts- CNA is the only one that does, but it's close to $3500 for a 5 yr warranty.

I actually like the newer Lexus grill, it's the infotainment mouse that I can't stand.

Cool input, I was thinking about that as I was driving and wondered it can't be cheap to replace.

I also like the spindle grill on the 2015 model year, it works well.

Yea, its odd that some features we get to enjoy in a 2015 is missing on another 2015 car. But the inside of that lexus feels very dated.
