Fuel Door Stuck closed

I have searched and read several posts indicating that a stuck actuator is the reason that the fuel door will not open nor respond to the manual pull chord in the trunk.

That is the situation I am in right now. The door is stuck closed and will not respond to the dashboard control nor the manual chord in the trunk. I cannot refuel my car.

I will try to get it to the dealer. In the meantime, does anyone know how to open this door before I take it to the dealer?

Wow first time I've seen this one. I don't have an answer unfortunately. Butter-knife maybe?

I've had that happens our our Genny when it's cold and icy. Maybe check the release mechanism/latch and clean/lubricate it. If you can hear the mechanism working when you activate the release on the door, then it needs to be cleaned and lubed. I'll take a closer look at ours.

See if you can have someone pulling on the door while you activate the release (inside the car or in the trunk).

It's happened about 3 times since I've owned the car. Those times, I just had to pressed the release button twice. More so an annoyance than a problem. I got over it. If it gets worse, it's under warranty. Good luck figuring it out.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was unable to open it trying all of the above. Ended up taking to the dealer who had to break the mechanism to get it open. Now awaiting replacement door and have a really cool piece of duct tape keeping it closed.

But I didn't run out of gas!

It's annoying that a car with less than 36K miles, three months shy of 3 years old has these annoying problems that force me to take time off work to fix. Had the same issue with leather seats wearing out early and the trunk not popping open anymore when I open it with the latch. Not to mention road vibration at +65MPH that will cost $ to diagnose and fix . . .
