  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello

I am in search of a gently used Magnaflow exhaust kit for the 1st Gen 4.6/5.0 Sedan to install on my 3.8. I took visit to my local muffler shop and the tech's eyes go wide. He did not want to cut anything. He told me to get a kit and he would install so here I am on the hunt. I am in the South East (Wilmington/Charlotte NC and Columbia SC) areas so I can drive if need be. Please share what you have.

Thanks!

If you can't find a kit here, try looking for another exhaust shop. ;)

Any experienced custom exhaust shop should be able to swap out mufflers or create a custom exhaust for you.

You know that is what I am going to do or do it myself. I saw a video of someone removing the cats and mufflers from a 2011 i think 4.6 in their garage.
ill just take it out and run it to an exhaust shop and match up everything. What do you think?

Yeah, it really isn't complicated. It's all bolted together. Although personally, if I'm going to an exhaust shop, just let them do it all. For them, it's way easier with a lift. And they can make sure everything fits and lines up properly. Because I suspect if they aren't comfortable doing that, they probably wouldn't want to deal with a stand-alone exhaust part handed to them.

I'd just call around and see who actually does custom exhausts. Not just break/fix repairs. Gotta be somebody around there.

Yeah apparently there is a muscle shop here that does LOTS of Mustangs and Camaros but I am very skeptical if they will be delicate with my baby. Prob give me a hard time and suggest a FLOWMASTER or something. I dont want to be perm just in case I need to take back to stock form for some reason. :)
Thanks for the suggestion

I hear ya. Although even going from a cheap car to an expensive one, exhaust systems don't typicallt change a whole lot. Still got cats, resonators, and mufflers.

Since it's all bolt-on, I'd see if they can just make a replacement bolt-on custom exhaust. Such as for the muffler to start, an axle back system. Then you could just swap out whenever, no cutting needed.

Bit more work, but if they can do it, would make sure you've got the right shop. ;)
