  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

my key fob wont lock / unlock doors or trunk on my 2010 sedan 3.8. it starts fine but when i kill the engine and go to get out it beeps after i shut the door and on the dash it says "KEY NOT IN VEHICLE". Ive been manually locking and unlocking with the key that pops out of the fob. (battery in fob is brand new)

Any suggestions besides take it to the dealer???

brand new battery meaning what? I got a brand new from the dealer Smart Key Card (the credit card key thing) last Saturday, brand new key with a brand new battery, they programmed it and 30 minutes later it was doing exactly what your describing..

I swapped in a new battery and everything was fine.

If the battery had been sitting around for a while it may not be "new", I've picked up batteries at Walmart and CVS for key fobs that were already past their expiration date and yes batteries have expiration dates.

the only other thing I can think that it might be is damaged, did the key get wet?

i have 2 and i put brand new batteries in both of them. i know i haven’t gotten both of them wet. i did have to take an aftermaker amp & sub out of the trunk that came with it but that was basic. amp was was connected to battery in trunk. i buttoned everything back down good to my knowledge. it didn’t start this until my wife used it a few days after

sounds like the amp may have been connected to something else, might be a short or disconnected wire somewhere.

I wonder if it sets up some sort of signal interference. I'd try disconnecting it and see what happens.

nope, it was a fuse (passenger side under hood) in what i thought was a slot for a spare. turns out it wasnt. even though it wasnt labeled it was completeing a circuit for something. JACKASS MISTAKE ON MY PART

Have the same problem on a 2012 Sedan (key slot) where the car would only start with the key in the slot. Key Fobs would do ZERO. radio would not display. TPMS was only light on. Car tested fine with no error codes. AC would not remeber settings when car start cycled. Rear sun shade would cycle randomly. Bizarre behavior. Removed the "Memory Fuse" and replaced after 10 seconds and everything came back on line. All key fobs starting working as normal. It was not the battery in the Fobs. On the 2012 Sedan, the Memory Fuse is located in the Drivers side dash fuse box. Manual Page 7-51IMG_0796.webp
