  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am seriously considering a G70 3.3T Sport. I have a question about the wireless charging and carplay. If my iPhone X is charging on the wireless pad...do I have Apple carplay at same time? Or do I have to plug the phone into USB to use carplay? If the former is the case...wireless charging won't be much of a benefit to me.

I haven't heard of Apple "Airplay" being a thing yet, I think CarPlay still must be a hardwired affair

to use Carplay you have to be hard wired, as such you will want to disable the wireless charging (in the G80 it is done in the Info Center Settings in the dash cluster), if you are setting the phone on the charge pad.

if you have the phone hardwired and on the wireless charging pad you risk overheating the battery and possibly having the phone catch fire, as you are dual charging the phone and Apple specifically tells you in the iPhone documentation NOT to do this.

as of now there is no wireless carplay in the Genesis cars.

Thx for the answers...this was what I expected. I was watching a review on the new BMW M550 and it does have wireless carplay...so it is coming available on some vehicles. Not a big deal...

FWIW, you can use wireless Bluetooth for music streaming, but the wired carplay sounds much better as wired allows for more and better bandwidth than wireless/Bluetooth..

For whatever reason it also has more volume. EX: bluetooth with windows open needs 30-32 on the volume while driving. Same situation and hardwired, volume only needs to be at 20 or so.

it's the increased bandwidth, Bluetooth requires the music to be compressed, which takes away from the clarity and the mid-low and low ends.
