If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Under the "severe" condition service, Hyundai recommends replacing the transmission fluid. In the past, I've always replaced the filter as well. BUT, it looks as if it is a part of the valve cover which is over $200!! Any thoughts? Should I replace the valve cover as well?

Well, actually the transmission filter is part of the transmission pan. Yes, you will have to replace the transmission pan if you decide to change the filter.

I will drain my transmission fluid at 60k miles and change the fluid/filter at 120k miles including the pan. I have seen some sellers on Ebay sell the pan/filter for $130.

Has dealer quoted the drain/refill for you? I think I've heard a few hundred $ for that? Or maybe $500 for the full service?

If I were personally doing the drain and refill and the pan had to be dropped to do the drain/fill I would do the filter. If you can do the drain/fill through drain and refill plugs, wait for the 120K service.

No, I just do my own work when possible. I am anal like that. The drain and fill method will cost me about $70-80 dollars. The filter method looks like about $210-280 including fluid and pan filter. Fairly cheap to be honest for the kind of work and parts for a luxury car like this. I had to spend about $120 every 40k miles to change my old 2011 Mercedes E350 AWD transmission fluid and filter.

Here is pan available online.

I never wait 100k miles to change my original fill transmission fluid. In my opinion the original fill transmission fluid has the most debris from the early break-in period and probably has degraded due to age. The filter would also be clogged most likely depending on the size at 120k miles, but at least I would have removed most of the old fluid at 60k miles.

However, I have debated about just changing the filter early at 60k miles and then push the next drain and fill back until about 150k miles since the filter should be clear of any excess metal from the break-in. Still debating which way to go.

A transmission shop owner told that changing the filter early is good insurance for a long transmission life when he rebuilt my old 2001 Volvo S80 T6 automatic transmission. Volvo claimed the transmission had lifetime fluid, however the twin turbo six killed it at about 70k miles. The shop owner told that i could have avoided the issue by changing fluid every 30k miles or so. He told me the filter was clogged with metal mostly from the break-end. Lesson learned. If possible , I just change my fluid and filter before 100k miles. The Genesis set up is easy to work on so I will just stay on top of it.
