  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How to get through to Canadian build site?

I believe the stinger US price was exactly the same as Canadian 52k and 52k which is what leads me to believe the 3.3 Awd loaded g70 will be 56k or above.
For a few thousand more, I can get a comparably equipped Audi S4. Going down trim to the A4 and 2.0 G70 is similar. What advantages will the Genesis have over proven competition if the pricing is only 10% less?

For starters, that "only 10% less" is more than a day's wage for most of us. It would cover a nice vacation or new flooring for the house.

Next is personal preferences. IMO, the A4 is dated bland style compared to the G70, but again, that is my opinion. Genesis has a pretty good warranty and quality reputation too.

Then you have to go over the equipment. There may be features on one or the other that are very important to you.

I drive a G80 because I like the looks and the technology and compared to other similarly equipped brands I can still have a good steak and nice bottle of wine more often, Your money, your choice.

Um...$15k-$20k is not a “few thousand” more. Not sure where you got that.

I didn't check the price of a S4 but I played with building a C43 on the Canadian website, after adding add the options to make it similar to the G70 sport, the difference came to around 15k Canadian if I remember correctly.

That is 15k I don't want to spend and after having experienced the whole sales experience with Genesis, it was a very easy choice for me to go with the G70. The MB dealer was a joke, they have their nose up if you were looking at any thing at least the E class level.

US S4 prestige trim: $55,800. Drivers assist $1800, ventilated seats $950 = $58,550. That includes navi and virtual cockpit.

Need to load it up more than that...then add on the maintenance free package which is another $3,500 or so.

You missed the paint upcharge...19" rims...cold weather...S package for Brembo's and damping suspension...etc, etc.

Build Your Own Custom Audi S4 | Audi USA

Comes to $65k + maintenance free...getting to $70k.

When comparing features to the G70 3.3 Sport I priced out a similar S4 $72k (plus freight and PDI), a C-Class $73k (plus freight and PDI) and a 3 Series $74k (plus freight and PDI). At $57,500 (with no freight or PDI) the G70 is a bargain. Those numbers are from memory and should be close.

Audi & BMW; got to love the nickel and dime options. The Audi virtual cockpit and MMI are far more advanced than the Genesis electronics. And Audi has solid resale and reliability. I suppose I'm not appreciating the high performance options & maintenance bundled in the G70 3.3 top trim. But high $50s? I hope it prices a little lower than that in the US or it may be a tough sell.

I would prefer they split the included maintenance off as an option to keep the price down. I don't need that much hand holding.

True, or some of the driver assist tech. I guess the difference is closer if I don't include some of the stuff I wouldn't need. But that would be just comparing what I need/could afford from a car, not comparing what the cars (g70, at, c43, 440xi) are equipped with at the same level.

And why would a G70 Sport cost more than a G80 Sport? The G80 is around .around $57500 US (msrp). I would be very surprised if it's more than $52K. Probably less than $50K US loaded.

Wouldn't that be less expensive than the stinger in US thou?

What's the Stinger got to do with any of this? Yeah, I know Kia and Hyundai are cousins.

In the US, the G80 is smaller and costs less than the G90. The Canadian G70 is smaller and costs less than the Canadian G80. The Canadian G80 is smaller and cost less than the Canadian G90.

So why would the US G70 cost more than the US G80. Makes absolutely no sense. I guess we'll have to wait until the US G70 makes it's debut later this year.

Sorry I meant to say that it wouldn't make sense for the loaded g70 to be less expensive than a loaded stinger. I think a top stinger is 52k usd?

If there's a price difference of 7.25% between the Canadian G70Sport and G80 sport, can we assume the same for US pricing? Across the trims would be:
2.0 Advanced: $39,000
2.0 Sport: $42,400
2.0 Elite: $43,700
2.0 Prestige or 3.3 Dynamic: $48,300
3.3 Sport: $53,500

Makes a lot more sense to me. Stinger would price near that range because it's a lift back and a larger car?

That is along the lines of my logic. So I am sticking to my original guess for the top G70 to be ~$54,400 USD.

Touch more than the top Stinger and a few grand cheaper than the top G80 Sport.

FINALLY a response that makes sense. However, I'm more than happy with my G80 Sport and have NO interest in the G70 other than I would like to see it become successful and with the expected pricing above, I think they will sell a lot of them.

While I see the logic in the pricing above, multiple outlets have estimated the U.S. G70 price will start around $32K.

There have been no official pricing releases what so ever.

Any sites that say "expected" or "should start" or "estimated"...have zero merit.
