  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,

Just completed a first trip in my new G70 3.3T Sport and thought I’d report in on fuel consumption.

The car is brand new so not broken in yet.

I drove about 400 km return to a cottage. I spent most of the time in Eco mode (though a bit in comfort / sport) with the A/C on the entire time. It was 20% city, 80% highway, but traffic was fairly heavy and was low speed or stop and go for several periods. I used ACC and LKA throughout.

Overall, I was quite impressed with fuel economy. I did not calculate actuals based on fuelling, but the car reports 9.8 litres / 100 km, which is decent. I think my C300 (2.0l Turbo) would be only slightly more efficient for a similar trip.

I haven’t tested 100% city driving yet but when I do I’ll report.

Nice! I'm just over 1000 kms, mostly highway and using Eco a lot, and am sitting at 9.4. The car can be decent on gas if you want it to be!

I would love great fuel economy but even using eco in the city the best i can do is about 13.5L and that is crawling like a turtle while accelerating

I haven't done a lot of city driving yet, will keep an eye out to see how much it increases!

Wow, I run a 3.8 non-turbo at an average of 125kmh and get anywhere between 6.9 and 7.8 depending on terrain and wind conditions.

I have no idea what kind of car / engine that is, but it sounds implausibly low. My c300 2.0T (though AWD) wouldn’t get that.

It's a 2013 Genesis 3.8 RWD. Granted for fuel economy, not the same as the AWD, turbo running in heavy traffic with ACC on.

7,8 liters is 30.15 mpg

While I totally get the deisre for good mpg...and the G70 is fine...but seriously...if one is driving a twin turbo V6...like I am, economy can’t possibly be the priority.

I wasn’t expecting the most efficient engine ever (there’s a reason I moved up from a 2.0T), but I would have been aghast if I was getting mid-teens / 100km and had to fill up often. I also live in the city so driving conditions are often shit and it adds up! Suffice it to say I’m relieved the G70 isn’t a total gas hog.

PS: I just zipped around the city with mixed highway traffic in a combo of comfort and sport and was somewhat aggressive. Still only 10.3l / 100 km, so I’m pretty pleased.

Yes wondering if the conversion is off - I had a 2.0T too and I could get mid 8's if I drove really mildly on the highway, don't know that I ever saw it dip into the 7's let alone the 6's. I don't even think I got 6's in a TDI I had years ago ...

I had less than 1/4 tank today and was going to do a Costco run so I filled it with regular gas and hit the highway. Cruise was set at 120kph both ways. I will run a few tanks of regular to get an idea of what the mileage difference is (if anything) compared to premium. Before anyone asks, I didn't mess around to see if there is a notable power difference. As I said, I was on the highway.

That's awesome! Seems like there's a big variation on mileage between city & highway, as well as the mode you drive in ... but as others have mentioned, nobody is buying the car because it's good on gas. I did a calculation of gas cost per year for all the cars I was looking at - the Alfa Guila was at the low end, the G70 at the high end. Came out to be a difference of $390 per year based on my driving - pretty negligible in the big scheme of things.

Funny thing, you're getting better than what Genesis claims - 9.5L/100KM!

Good point... approximately $400/year is chump change (even adjusted to the US it is relatively insignificant in the big scheme of things). Plus the car is cheaper than comparable rivals so even with the extra fuel added in you are still spending less than a rival vehicle (not to mention repair costs of some ... er, European... rivals too!)

For me, I'll probably use Eco mode on my long highway commute in the morning because I'm tired and don't want to be flooring it and whipping through traffic... so it's nice to hear that some people are reporting better consumption in Eco. As for after work I'll probably kick some back roads on the way home in Sport mode and it'll all even out in the end LOL

FYI: there is a difference between US MPG and Imperial MPG. For example: in @KDX 's post above he is getting 8.7 L / 100 km. That translates to 27.0362 US miles / gallon and 32.4691 Imperial miles / gallon. ---------> 1 US mile/gallon = 1.2 Imperial miles/gallon. I believe that some Canadian posters may be making the mistake of converting to Imperial MPG instead of US MPG; I'm not even sure what the hell Imperial MPG is, but I damn sure know we use US MPG here in the US so before anybody posts L / 100 km to MPG conversions, let's make sure we are converting to US MPG not Imperial MPG!!

@KDX has the 3.3T G70 and he got 27 US MPG for highway driving using cruise control in eco mode?! That's phenomenal compared to what we were expecting/other reports we've been getting!
