  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G80
G80 sales are apparently down 60% this year.

My local Huyandi has no Genisi at all . I am waiting for a G70 and he now says they will not be available till next year and he does not even know if his dealersip will offer them.
I hear rumors that Genesis will be sold on internet primarily and other rumors that Huyandi dealerships that want to sell Genesi will need to build a separate facility.

This is a great product, is something wrong?

Genesis has limited the import of Genesēs until dedicated dealerships are up & running.
Genisi sounds more like either a parasitical infection or a cheap Vespa knock-off.

Have you read any of the threads about G70 here? There has been much information (and some misinformation) about what is going on. Some Hyundai dealers have chosen not to sell the Genesis, others have and will.

He probably told you "next year" so he could sell you something in stock today. Best guess is you may be able to get the G70 in September. Nothing official yet though.

Just read the post in this thread, then put 2 and 2 together and you may see the light. What I see is a company that is letting information out but does not do anything about it. For instance, they released the G70 to Canada and lead people to think it was coming to the US. They keep changing when, or don't stop any roomers of the release date. At this point no one knows which dealers will be able to sell what.
They have stopped shipments or G80s and G90s to the dealers that sell them now.
I have a G80 but if I didn't I would not buy one now. I don't know where I may have go to get it fixed next week. etc.
They need to make decisions now, release the decisions now and do what ever it takes to make it happen.
I think you can see what i'm trying to say. As a company, I don't trust them.

I'm not worried. Yes, Genesis USA is a bit screwed up right now and there were some poor decisions a while back. OTOH, we do know they are in the process of fixing things.
You have to stop and look at the corporate structure. Genesis Korea is selling to Genesis Canada. They did release to Genesis USA, however, Genesis USA is in a bit of turmoil that prevents them from selling the car right now, but that is being fixed. No doubt Genesis USA brought the problems on themselves.

You state no one knows which dealers will sell what. That is pretty much false. Some here have stated they know their dealers will be selling them. I was at my dealer Friday and they are signed up too. More are every day.

They have made decisions. They have also chosen not to reveal them all as it will probably generate more rumors than stop them. I agree many things have not been handled well and much has to be done yet but it seems to be in the works and the right direction.

There are legal matters to be done in 50 different states. Laws vary in 50 states. Some here seem to trivialize it but it takes enormous resources to do it all. Not to mention the 850 Hyundai dealers that have to be dealt with to accept or reject as a Genesis dealer.

Why don't you know where your car will be serviced next week? It has been stated your present dealer will be continuing.

Trust is up to you, but look at the potential of the US market. Hyundai/Genesis headquarters is not going to walk away from it. They have some problems, but they have the funds behind them to fix things. Yes, a handful of people here are frustrated with the situation, but that is a dozen or so of 300 million potential customers that are unaware and are potential buyers once problems are fixed. Outside of this forum and the dealers themselves, who know or cares?

Calm down, it will be all right...

WORST case, you can continue to get your G80 serviced at your local Hyundai dealer. As far as shipping new G80 and G90 vehicles, I assume Hyundai is now making the 2019 models.

To make a long story short...

The reason for the pretty drastic decline in G80 and G90 sales (only really for the past 2 months) is that Genesis stopped production of the '18MY G80 and G90 in February (which explains why they stopped shipping them in March/early April).
The G70 was supposed to launch late April/May, as well as the 2019 G80 and G80 (Canada has been selling the 2019s).
But due to the hold-up in the dealership switch-over, everything has been delayed and the supply of the 2018's had to be stretched out (Genesis has not been supporting sales via advertising or incentives).
Genesis is still going thru the procedure of processing applications and wont be finished til early next year - tho, G70 sales and '19MY G80's and G90's will likely start before then.
Likely will end up w/ somewhere btwn 150 and 250 Genesis stores; a good bit more than the initial plan for 100 or so stores.
As for the online retail thing - that's for certain markets (Canada, Australia).
And as stated, '18MY G80's and prior model years will continue to be serviced at Hyundai dealerships.

What does "MY" mean in the sentence above? I assume the 18 refers to 2018.
