  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When setting the Electronic Parking Brake, there is a loud screeching noise for the last 3 seconds or so. The brake does set. Anyone know the root cause and is it serviceable by us owners? Thanks in advance!

Just picked up 2013 R-Spec and hearing the exact same thing. Did you ever get anymore info on this?

Anyone else? Is this normal?

We’ve also had the EPB light stay lit when starting the car but it clears when shifting into drive or reverse. And, also once had the AutoHold light stay on while driving and couldn’t clear it. Eventually cleared after the car was off for a few hours.

As mentioned, just got this vehicle and really, really hope we didn’t get a lemon. Everything else seems solid.

I have not found a definitive root cause, but I believe there is a worm gear that works with a regular to tighten the cable attached to the wheel brake. One or both of these gears must be stripped , tooth broken and grinds. I'm hoping there is a repair kit. This assembly is in a box just above the rear differential and likely a bear to access and expensive to replace.

Did you try lubricating the squeaky bits? Has the car ever been under water?

I bought it with 8700 miles from a Houston Hyundai dealer who brought in from a Florida dealer. Not sure about flooding nor have I lubricated it. I also rarely used the brake...

Rarely used may be part of the problem. Things like that tend to rust in place. May need a good cleaning and some parts may need lube of some sort.
