  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Up until this afternoon, I was left with the belief in 2 things concerning the 1G Genesis; the BH body's last production year was 2014 and if you wanted the 5.0 engine after 2013, you had to get the R Spec.
I was proven wrong today on both counts. For the past few weeks I've been shopping around for the replacement to my 2012 non R-Spec 5.0. While I've pretty much isolated my search to a 2015/16 Chevy SS , I've also keeping an eye out for low mileage 2014 R-Specs.
In my search I happened across a dealership north of Palm Beach, Fl. that had a listing for a "2015 Genesis Sedan with a 5.0 motor". When I looked at the ad, it was very clearly a BH/1st Gen and get this; a NON R-Spec! Thinking that this was a dealer mis-print, I contacted them and they insisted that it was indeed a 2015.
I wrote down the VIN and called Hyundai USA to get more info and they verified the information. Hyundai has it listed as a 2015. It's build date is December 2014 and it's in-service date was August of 2015. It is indeed a 2015 1st gen Non-Rspec 5.0. Is this car a total Unicorn? What really sucks is that I called the dealership back within a few hours to buy it but it was already sold. :(
I'm not sure how long they will have the listing active, but THIS is the car in question.

Pretty crazy if you ask me.

That VIN does not belong to that vehicle. I just ran the VIN and pulled up the window sticker. That VIN does indeed belong to a 2nd gen. It just so happens to be a silver 2nd, with a 5.0. However, the VIN does come back to one with gray interior, with staggered 19" wheels, and it had the tire recall done on it as well. Probably just the photographer for their site pulled the wrong vehicle.

"Dealer not responsible for typographical errors "

Uh huh, sure...

WOW. I would not buy a car from that dealership just because of the lack of attention to detail on one of their own models they sell all the time.

I usually give dealerships a little room for error on used car models they do not usually sell like a Honda at a Chevy dealership, but not just pure sloppiness or maybe even misdirection like in that Genesis used car ad.

@GarnetTy1473 How were you able to view the window sticker? I was pretty much doing everything from my mobile at the time, so I wasn't able to view all of the details in the lower section like I was once I got on my laptop. I pretty much lost interest when the salesman told me that the car had been sold. (Keep in mind that prior to everything going down, I had called and asked for them to take a picture of the build sticker on the drivers door sill and a pic of the motor. That would have cleared everything up. ) I figured that it had to be a mistake, especially considering that the car was a non R-Spec. I know that a few non R specs were made in 2012, such as mine, but after 2013 if you wanted the V8 it was an R. Thank you for clearing it up though, I really appreciate it.

@carguy75 you're exactly right.. The dealership contacted me tonight to let me know that they had found a 2015 Chevy SS matching what I was looking for and I told him to pack sand since they couldn't even sell a Hyundai correctly. (Take into account that they ARE a Hyundai dealership and 'should' know the difference between a BH and DH.) I mean, I was planning on driving down to wpb to take a look at the car before he told me it was sold. Imagine how pissed I would have been had i done that 3+ hour drive to find out it was a DH....

I can pull up window stickers for pretty much anything 2015 and newer through my dealer site.
