  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you could build a G80 from ALL of the options available what would it be?
I’m most familiar with the 2018, but use earlier years/parts if you feel so inclined.
Available 2018 G80 options/trim packages are available starting on page 23 in the 2018 Genesis G80 Brochure. (Note: This is not a Genesis brand website.)

I start with my current ride:
2018 G80 Sport HTRAC (AWD) 3.3L Twin Turbo
Exterior-Victoria Black
Interior-Black with copper stitching and carbon fiber trim

A) Replace front bumper/fascia with 3.8 or 5.0 bumper. I prefer a more curved/less edgy car. I’d get fog log lights! I know I’d lose the air intake ducts which may impact the turbochargers.

B) Replace Carbon fiber interior accents with 3.8/5.0 wood trim.

C) Replace Alloy sport drive pedals with 3.8/5.0 pedals. I don’t like the look and they can be a little slippery, especially when wet/damp.

D) I’m ambivalent on going away from the 19” staggered tire setup (Sport and 5.0) to the 3.8 18” tires/rims. It would be nice to have the same 4 tires all the way around and I’m willing to give up some handling, expecting a little softer ride on the 18”’s. The Sport specific 19” rims do look sexy though.

You can tell I am very happy with my G80… This is a relatively short list.

I do understand there may be technical/mechanical limits (e.g. smaller rim size can't use larger brake calipers). This is a hypothetical discussion.

I choose the Sport over the 5.0 because of the look, exterior and interior, including the pedals, carbon fiber, black/black interior, staggered wheels, etc.

I originally wanted the 5.0, but the tan headliner and faux wood turned me off, I would have walked away completely if the dealer had not suggested I take the Sport for a over night test drive. I loved the look of the sport but I was stand offish about the 3.3T motor, I have never been a fan of forced induction, I prefer large displacement V8s.

However I have found the 3.3T to be a competent motor so far, my real concern with be longevity, boosted motors are more complicated, have more parts, and more than can go wrong with a higher repair cost.

My ideal design would be the Sport exterior and interior looks and features mated to the 5.0 motor with an LSD.

From "available options," I'd start by deleting the pano-roof. That would quiet down the interior a lot.

Then select the "Sport" suspension from the 3.3T and throw it on the 5.0. That's it.

I prefer the wood grain interior trim (it's real wood, not fake), elegant exterior design, and just about everything else as spec'd on my HTRAC 5.0. Can't get enough of that V8 engine/exhaust with muffler upgrade. In sport mode it's all kinds of talkative with those rev-matched shifts. Love it.

We think alike. I00% agree with your assessment. Natural aspiration for me. I bought a challenger scat pack shaker with a 485HP 396 engine instead of the Hellcat for exact reason. Also would love the Genesis V8 with sport setup as my next car when I trade in.

I have the 3.8 in my G80 because I need a break from the Challenger. It’s a beast and it’s nice to have a 2nd car that’s not so wild.

Silver/gray G80 5.0 ultimate WITH OUT A PANO ROOF.
I now have a G80 base 3,8 because that is the only Genesis I could get WITH OUT A PANO ROOF

I'm on my 3rd car with pano roof, Sonata and 2 Genesis. On the Sonata it was opened twice, the first Genesis once, this one not at all. The lack of use is perhaps why they have been trouble free.

While I'd not miss it and would not buy it as a stand alone option, I'm not willing to compromise on the goodies of the Ultimate to not have it.

My way of car buying may not be the best value, but for a given price point, I'd rather have a fully loaded call it Level 1 car than a stripped down Level 2 car.

Getting back to the intention of this thread, I have pretty much everything available. I have the Adriatic Blue and while I like it, the Pacific blue on my Sonata would be my first choice.

I have been. Been Inactive. I prefer Facebook groups but Genesis is weak on FB so I’m here to share and learn. Often post on Scat Pack Shaker Garage.
