  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

AWD G70 2.0 liter: 21 city/ 28 highway, 23 combined.
AWD G70 3.3 liter: 18 city/ 25 highway, 20 combined.
There's only a 13% fuel savings choosing the 4 over the 6. Or is the real world different than the government tests?

Driving in Eco mode a mix of highway and city I averaged 24mpg on my last tank. So you can get decent mileage after the first few tanks, if you baby it. I can easily get it to 20mpg if I switch to sport mode...

I wonder how those numbers translate to every day driving. Right now I'm driving a rental with a smaller engine than my 3.8. The fuel mileage is no better, but I find myself pushing the pedal more to get the same acceleration. The smaller engine is being asked to work harder, thus the poor mpg. Under conditions of EPA testing I imagine there would be a greater difference. I have to wonder if that 13% would fade considerably.

Thinking of eventually trading my 2015 Sonata 2.0T (keeping my 2018 Sonata 2.0T) for loaded G70 2.0T.
Formerly owned a 2009 Genesis V8, 2009 Motor Trend Car Of The Year.
On my last two long trips with the Sonatas (both 2.0T, one with 6 Speed trans and other with 8 Speed trans) from my Central Florida location to Lexington SC (2015) and to my WNY location, Rochester NY (2018), I averaged 34 mpg Hwy. Both Sonatas got same Hwy mileage.

Leaving for my Roswell NM location with my 2018 sometime in the end of September or October.

Perhaps if "The Morher Ship" gets their act together and starts selling G70's, on my return to my home in Mt. Dora Florida, I may visit my favorite selling dealer, 105 miles away, (Melbourne) and buy a 2.0T G70. Not interested in the 3.3T.

Your G70 2.0T hey mileage should be tin the 32 to 35 range.

Roswell. Mother Ship. I see what you did there!

No pun intended. 😇

My Melbourne selling dealer refers to Genesis Motors as "The Mother Ship".

Per those posts about driving in Eco mode. My 2018 Sonata (not my 2015) has an additional "Smart" mode. If my Sonata 2.0T has it, surely the G70 2.0T will also have Smart mode. That is the only mode I now use. Depending on how hard I push the throttle, will depend what mode it switches to. I love it.

Perhaps our Canadian friends can tell us if their G70 2.0T has the Smart mode.

It does! When you have it in Smart mode it’ll tell you if you’re driving “economically” or “aggressively” and adjust as needed.

Arrived at my Roswell NM location (from my Central Florida location) a fed dsys ago, 2018 Sonata Limited 2.0Turbo. Averaged just under 34 mpg mostly going 80 mph. Milage drops in the rain. Anticipate better mpg when I return East ("downhill" with winds from west to east).

2.0T Genesis should get the same.

BTW, Sonata gas tank holds two more US Gallons vice the G70 tank.

BTW; Roswell (NM) Hyundai will NOT be a Genesis dealer. When I return to Central Florida, will check who will be Genesis dealers.

Surprised that here in Roswell, there is no Kia dealer.

That's right square on with the mileage I get on the road in my Optima 2.0T.

Don't know if there are any gearing differences or other factors that would make the G70 produce different numbers.
