Rear windows won't go down on a 16

Just wanted to let you know I found a solution for my 16 rear window issue (would not roll down).

Seems that playing with the child rear window lock (pushing a number of times to turn on and off) resolved the rear windows from not rolling down (yes, I had tried turning it on and off before one or 2 times without any luck when it first happened), but this time it took like 10 or more pushes in succession to get them to work.

Seems like the contacts in the children's switch got dirty / had corrosion on them, pushing the switch "cleans" the contacts so they must have had a lot.

My symptoms were at first the drivers rear would not work and there was a fractional second delay in the pass rear window going down. Then both stopped working.

It was like that for a month or so before I thought it might be related to the children's lock on the windows and decided to push it a number of times, and then they started working again.

Worth a try for those having the issue.

was waiting on the next service to have the stealler check them. One less thing for them to mess up now.

Interesting, my driver side rear does that pushing on the switch does nothing then it starts working no problems again.

Try the child lock fix next time (press on and off repeatedly 10 or more times).

I wonder if water is getting in to the window switch assembly on rainy days

It shouldn't I took the door panel off on the front and it seems to be laid out nice in there with some dampening material. But I'll check your method.

Possibly, its just two main plugs IIRC.

Pressing the child lock button a few times is simpler than opening the door and spraying contact cleaner inside IMO, and that comes from an electrical engineer. Let the switch contacts do what they are supposed to do, be self cleaning.

It appearred randomly and usually disappeared in seconds or minutes, usually pressing multiple times then waiting. I got tired of it as it became more frequent, took it in, and the dealer diagnosed faulty master switch, replaced under warranty and has not come back (about 6 months now).

Had this happen to only drivers front. Switch replaced and it worked for a bit and started failing again. 2nd round the window motor was replaced as they said it was binding up. Now the left rear window is acting up. Not sure if its a switch or the motor yet. So you are not alone....

I had my front driver's not want to go down or up. It would go down about 1cm down every time you would press and hold the window down switch. Same thing when going up. I stopped the car, turned it off, locked the doors, unlocked, started the car and went back to normal.... weird..

Unfortunately restarting my genny would not repair the window issue, only repeatedly pushing on the child lock button.

i know this is a old thread , but i tried several times more than 10 for sure still the rear drivers window wont go down ,i do have the plat wrap warranty ,so of to dealer

I had posted above stating that the fix worked for me, but now my passenger rear window has been out of commission for over three months. I also have the plat wrap warranty but have neglected to bring it in thus far. Please keep us updated on what happens !
