  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am not sure that is true. Nav is free for 3 years but music only 3 months I believe.

Just got my G80 and it’s three year nav updates and three months music!

Oh your right it’s the Sirius traffic and data services that are 3 years, music is 3 months My mistake

I believe the FLAC files on a USB drive are only supported by the Lexicon system with the 17 speakers....
I have a 2016 Ultimate which I believe has the 17 speaker Lexicon. I bought it used and got a letter asking if I'd like to subscribe to XM after my 3 month trial is over. I didn't know I had the trial subscription! Also, I'm getting calls from XM multiple times per day, never answer, just put them on my blocked call list.

You should be able to listen to the radio free for the next ten days or so. They are offering it to entice subscriptions. Also a cheap 6 month deal
SiriusXM - Stream or Listen to Music, Entertainment, Sports & More

I've mastered the XMSirius subscription renewal dance. Call and say you are considering cancelling/not renewing because of cost. They will offer several deals. I can typically negotiate it down to $5.00 / month for 5 -> 12 months (XM Select 140+ channel 15.99USD/mo package). If you don't get a deal hangup, call back and try again. I've been doing this for 7 years.

As an aside.
I was befuddled on how to set the analog clock on the 2018 G80 Sport (Has the Ultimate package options) initially. Determined It is automatically configured by "the car". I assume this is done by the DIS/Satellite radio system. Go into settings and check/uncheck "Daylight savings time" and you'll see the analog clock hands move (I'm easily amused).

My evidence is getting a 2018 G80 3.8 loaner without a satellite radio subscription. The digital and analog clock were set wrong. There was no way to set either the clock. I'd be interested if the clocks are unsettable for other G80 owners that do not have a satellite radio subscription. Be forewarned you may not be able to get the correct time from the car w/o a satellite radio subscription. For the record, I do not work for XMSirius nor receive any compensation from them.

according to the manual the clock is set via the GPS system, however there is a manual override in the settings.

Interesting. Obviously the car has/needs a GPS system for the navigation. I assume I'd have to disable GPS Time to ungrey/use the "Time Settings" option. I'm puzzled why the loaner had the incorrect time. Likely time was set manually incorrectly. I'll look at it on my G80 further this weekend.

Yes, Nav updates and Sirius Data is included for 3 years, but Sirius Radio is only free for 3 months. When I purchased my Acura RL back in 2005, one year of free XM Radio was included.

So I guess I am not understanding your point here. I am betting that Acura now offers a 3 month free trial. If I am wrong I apologize in advance. If I am correct then is your point that Acura has gone downhill in the past 13 years? ;)

most car manufactures used to offer Sirius for 1 year, then it was 6 months, now it is 3 months..

My point was that in 2005 Acura included many things that were options (if they were even available) on competitor cars. One year of XM (now Sirius) was just one of these features. Some others included a six changer CD /DVD-A player, On Star, permanently installed cell phone, Bluetooth connection to my cell phone, active noise cancellation, power rear sunshade, manual rear side sunshades, active bending headlights and Super handling AWD to name a few. There were no options on the RL, other than interior and exterior colors. It was very similar to the G80 Sport, in that everything was included. I think both cars (were) are excellent values for their respective times.
Yes, I think Acura has gone downhill lately, as far as their RLX is concerned. I looked at one before I purchased my G80, and there was no comparison, in my eyes.

My XMSirius subscription (music only) renewal was coming up for renewal this weekend. Just now I went through the subscription renewal negotiation "dance" with XMSirius today. The full MSRP for a 1 year XM Select subscription is $232.94-year (includes fees and taxes) /$19.41-month).

My current 1 year subscription XM Select +140 channel subscription was approximately $117-year/$9.87-month.
I logged into the XmSirius website account and posed a question in the chat window about cancelling my account.
Response was I could not cancel using chat. Call 1-888-601-6302

I called the number and inquired about how to cancel service. They asked me why and I responded "too expensive".
They initially offered me $132.33 year / $11.00 month and I said nope.
They came back with the same offer I currently had $118.57 year / $9.88 (royalty fee has gone up a little) and I agreed.
The conversation took 15 minutes (shorter than usual).

You don't get what you deserve you get what you negotiate!

I tried the Sirius radio. Didn't really care for it. But I do like having the traffic feature, weather, and entertainment options. So I called them to get just that for $60 a year. I usually listen to music from either my USB, or Spotify while driving. I use Windows Media Player to sync new music to the USB. That way I capture all the tags, and album art. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to create a playlist on the USB that can be read by the car HU.

I believe the FLAC files on a USB drive are only supported by the Lexicon system with the 17 speakers. I still have a Sirius subscription for another couple of months, but I probably won't renew it since I an now play all of my music--FLAC on the Jukebox or USB, or MP3 on some DVD's. Plus I have some audio DVD's for the full surround sound experience.

So you are now able to play FLAC files again? What did they say the issue was at the dealer service dept?

$60 a year for the data package only? I would pay that for the traffic service and I hate Sirius, but the traffic service works well and helps the GPS reroute around the messes, just this morning it saved me over 25 minutes of commute time by routing me around a bad motorcycle accident.

I was rather surprised at the route it suggested but decided to try it, what would normally take me 20 minutes with no accident, took me 8 minutes via surface streets instead of highway, estimated backup from the accident was 20-30 minutes.

normally I leave my house at 7:00am and drop my daughter at school at 7:25 (the aforementioned 20 minute highway route), then I head to work and get there about 8:20-8:30.

this morning we left at 7:00, the motorcycle accident was 2 ramps past our exit so traffic was backed up past the interchange we use, and it was affecting both sides since it was in the carpool lane.

the GPS suggested a surface street route, and I had my daughter at school by 7:12, and I was at work by 8:04.

Yes, I can play FLAC audio files. All that was needed was a software update. The problem was that it took from May 21st until August 7th for Genesis to figure out how to solve the problem, after they (finally) acknowledged that there was a problem. That was a little frustrating, but I'm satisfied with the result.

Mcc, that is true for me also 3yr Nav, 90 days XM. (2018 G80)
