  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2015 3.8awd
I noticed when I have my climate control set to auto it only reduces when I get a call through Bluetooth but it won't reduce when cabin temperature is freezing cold. How is auto climate control suppose to work?

It reduces the fan speed when you get a call. That reduces the cabin noise. The air is coming out the top vents and the noise is higher and can be picked up on the Bluetooth speaker/microphone.

When freezing cold the fan does not come on full until the water is hot enough. At that point, it will go to a higher speed and on the lower vents, overall fairly quiet. I don't think the fan needs to be reduced so much then. Evidently the Genesis designers think that too.

Overall, the climate control does an excellent job year round. Rare that I touch it.

I noticed a few times it would say auto defog on which blast the upper vents for a few seconds, then it lowers again. I agree with Ed once set I rarely need to make adjustments.

I live in Arizona where it is really hot in the summer. During the day it's fine to blow at full speed what I am saying is that the fan speed does not reduce when it's freezing cold inside the car unless I get a call through bluetooth in auto mode. My understanding of auto mode is when it gets cold enough the fan should reduce it's speed.

I have no problems with mine and I use Auto all year round between 69 and 78. Usually, during hot and muggy summer day I set it to 70 or 69 and when the cabin temperature drops down to desired temperature the fan slows down and keeps that temperature. It is very convenient as I don't really have to change the temperature that much. It also senses if you are in the direct sun. So for example, if the temperature inside the cabin reached desired temp and fan is not in full blast anymore, you get into shade or drive under the bridge, the fan should slow down a bit.

However, some automovie makers give you ability to change the fan speed of your auto option once the desired temp is reached. I personally saw it in BMW and Jaguar. Very nice feature.

I have one hour commute to work and from the start to end if I set my climate to auto it will be blowing at full speed and I am freezing my ass of in the car.

What if you bump up the temperature? Also, do you point air vents directly on your body?

I have it lowest and when it's in auto it only blowsnfr the front vents. When I cycle through the vent type auto mode disengages.

Lowest will always blow cold a$$ air. Set it to 70 or 69 and that will do it. And yes, if you cycle through the vent type, auto will disengage but if you don't change the fan speed, it will still control the fan speed automatically based on your temp setting.

Ok I will try that temp setting. What temp is the lowest?

Not sure because I never used the lowest setting. I will check later and reply back. Usually you turn it to the coldest and it shows as "LOW".

Yes after all these years of driving and owning multiple car I always thought it had to be on the lowest for AC to work properly.

On super hot days I set A/C temp to "LOW", after a few minutes fo full blast cold air, I tweak temp up to more of a room temp like 72 or so and the fan slows to a not so noisy level. If it does get a bit warm but I don't want the noise, I just turn on my A/C seat.

I thought so too for a long time. Set it to 72 on AUTO in the summer and you will have nice ambient/cool temperature in your car. Set it to 72 AUTO in the winter, you will have nice warm/ambient temp in the car.

You mentioned that rear vent don't blow air. Check if they are open. Also, there is a rear vent option when you click CLIMATE button and click on menu. You can enable/disable rear vents from there as well.

keep mine at 70° and auto year round, don't mess with it for the most part, been the same on most of my cars. though my Camaro didn't have "auto" mode or a digital readout, I still kept the dial at the labeled 70° and the fan on medium..

95% of the time I drive with the windows down and sunroof open, in some vented seats on, in winter heated seats on, only time I have everything closed up is if it is raining..

No point setting it to LOW. In fact it defeats the purpose of Auto. The fan can only go so fast. If you set the temperature at or near 72° and it’s super hot the fan will start at full (max) speed and will gradually decrease as the cabin temperature approaches 72°. All automatically! that’s the way Auto works.

Perfect thanks for clarifying! It'll give that a try when I leave work tonight

You will love it!
