  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Joined Forum today. Drove a 2015 Genesis 3.8 with Signature package 2 weeks ago on a 200 mile trip to the beach. What a great driving car! Fell in love with it. However, after reading through the forum for the last several hours, I came away with mixed feelings. While the Genesis has wonderful features, and is the perfect touring car, I am very concerned about all of the reported electrical issues, build quality, quality control, repetitive problem areas, and poor dealer servicing mentioned on so many of the post. Am I reading too much into these post? I have seen on several review sites, that 2015 Hyundai Genesis owners have the highest percentage for recommending this car and would buy again over all of the other luxury brands. Which is correct? Repair issues or great car?
I have located a CPO Genesis 3.8, AWD, Ultimate Package, with only 6052 miles on it. I have been driving Honda's forever and they have been bullet proof. Obviously, not in the same league with the Genesis, but I am now questioning if the Genesis is worth the risk.
Please provide me with your thoughts on my concerns. Really want to buy...but...

Thanking you in advance.

I had the same model and liked it so much bought a 2018. Any car you buy is a crap shoot but the overall quality of Hyundai has been very good. With the CPO warranty you should be well covered. If you live in a cold area you will love the heated steering wheel.

Yes, some people had issues, but something to keep in mind. . . happy customers will tell one or two people about their experience, unhappy customers will usually tell 10 or more.

Had mine for almost 2 months - 2015 3.8 with Signature package. I LOVE this car... already done a few "mods" upgrades and looking into doing a few more to get it just right.

I had three Honda Accords, all driven for 200K+ miles prior to getting a Hyundai Sonata back in 2012. While I had no issues with my Accords (my 2004 is still in use with 240K miles) I have had no complaints or issues with my Sonata. It has been trouble free and remains sot today. I have had my G80 Sport for 6 months and absolutely love the car. Other than rocks chipping my windshield it has been trouble free as well. I have had no issues with service from my dealer. I would not hesitate in picking up a Genesis.

Bought my 2016 3.8 AWD Luxury in January with 10800 Kilometres & really like it.
Now @ 18600 Kilometers only complaint is body & doors creaking due to pano roof on certain bumps which is quite a common complaint among other owners. Just turn the great stereo up ;).
Great car & no real regrets so far.

No real issues here after 2 months with a 2015 5.0...CPO car. Came from a Toyota so I was nervous at first.

Keep in mind, these boards do not represent the vast majority of owners. Either they're enthusiasts or coming here to vent and complain. I'd guess less than 1% of the overall ownership is on these message boards.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I'm sure that is somewhat true. My GF couldnt believe there was a forum for this car. I'm glad there was though!
So far (at 20000m) my car is whisper quiet on the road. Just listening to it cruising on the road is a wonder to me. Hoping it stays like that!!

If you was one of my family members asking if the 2015 Genesis is worth buying I would say yes and no. Yes, if you buy an extended warranty and can do your own light repairs/maintenance(oil changes, trim swaps, etc.) on the car. No, if you are not willing to buy an extended warranty and have to go to the dealership for every repair/maintenance work that needs to be done.

I say this because the 2015 Genesis models does have it teething issues like sunroof noise issues, reverse camera issues, poor quality shift knob/control stalk chrome trim that peels, and some other issues I read about. Most issues are easy to solve yourself like I did with my peeling shift knob and bubbled gear shifter indicator(Ebay). However, the dealership service is hit or miss from what I read so it can get costly and time consuming relying on them to solve minor issues like that. An extended warranty will cover that larger more expensive repairs.
I like my 2015 Genesis, but I also know that it does have some flaws hence why I have an extended full comprehensive warranty that covers the electronics until 100k miles.

I still have an back up camera that is stuck in one mode(normal) and have had to replace a couple items like my shift knob($30 new) for peeling chrome, cracked/bubbled gear shifter indicator window trim($60 used), and wiper control stalk for peeling chrome($40 used).

I guess my car last owner had long finger nails.:)

No. I would stay away from the '15 model year. This is the first year for the new platform and it has issues. Your results may vary.
