Key in car somewhere

I know my key is in the car because it started (for a few days) now I can use the spare. I can not find the lost key although I know it is there. We have been through the car several times including taking out the front seats. Any (please) suggestions?

Hmm, wow...that's a good one. Did you try looking in the creases of the seats? There aren't really any flappy carpet spots that I know of, but it could be in a carpet fold too, but if you took the seats out? I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

By key, do you mean the fob? If the battery is good it will not lock, will start, no spare is needed.

Could it be in the trunk? I'm sure by now you checked the obvious places like the consul, door pockets, etc.

So to put it more directly
If the key is somewhere in the car and the spare in NOT in the car, the car will start. Does it?

Yes, fob. the spare always worked but because the original fob is in the car, I couldn't lock the car using the spare fob etc. We have looked everywhere in every crease and fold. We have not taken out the center console or the back seat. We have removed every single scrap of paper and everything else from the car. It has to be in the car, because at first i thought i left my keys at the doctors office...didn't find them so said oh I must have left them in the car. Went to the car and it started so that key is in there somewhere.

Look on top of the seat adjuster track, it may be on top of the track and didn't hit the floor.

I put my house keys and fob in my right pocket. If it fell out of my pocket the obvious place is next to the seat. It is tight and dark so would not be easily found. Left side is not much better. I have dropped things there and it was a PITA. I'd check again or get someone else to peek, maybe from a different angle.

The space right next to the seat track is pretty well hidden. Maybe someone younger, more agile with slender hands will have better luck.

Yes, thank you, I did have a bag that I had removed from the car but it wasn.t in the bag. This is a tuff nut. I feel like we will have to remove the back seat and maybe the console although the console doesn't have any places around it for the keys to hide

It did for the first day and 1/2. I think the original battery must have expired because also for the first several days the alarm was barking all the time. So first fob dead and that is why the spare works

yeah being kept in the car probably kept the fob active and killed the battery.

1. the fob battery has died
2, the fob has been removed from the car

since he tore the car apart even removing the seats and can't find the key, it stands to reason it is still in the car with a dead battery.

See this is want does not make sense.
In the G90 at least you CAN lock the car with the fob if the other key is in the car. You just can’t lock it with the touch door button. He would have needed to test it by trying lo lock with the outside handle (assuming it has that feature) to test if the key is in the car.

can't in my car.. G80 Sport

if there is a fob in the car:

the trunk lock button doesn't work
the door lock button doesn't work
another fob doesn't work

car beeps at you with a long sustained alert.

I know this because I left my wallet my backpack in my trunk which had my Smart Card in it. tried to lock the car with all of the above and couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong with the car and why it would not lock. Until I realized I didn't have my wallet..

Interesting, My wife often leaves her purse hidden in the car with the second key in it. I have to lock the car with my fob. Door touch lock won’t work (long beep). I guess that’s a difference between the two models.

Did you look overhead in the sunglass holder? Glove compartment?
