  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Motors Acknowledges It's Not A Luxury Brand

he just asked who he forgot.. I didn't say they were lux.
Well, I added Porsche... But not sure I should have. They are considered highly prestigious...

I don't get it. What's "near luxury" about the G80, G90, or upcoming G70? Why does Genesis Motors even share these news releases? Here's the latest:
Genesis G80 Named Highest-Ranked Near Luxury Car - Genesis Owners

Would Lexus allow their products to be called near luxury?

Why confuse things by including the G90 in your post. Now, possibly without reading the press release, every who responds will include the the G90 as not being near luxury. The post clearly says the G90 was a winner in the luxury category. I don’t know how they define the categories, maybe there is a size requirement?

This may sound odd but Mcc brings up a good point ( which is odd in itself 😏), while Genesis may be considered by many to be a near-luxury or tier 2 brand, couldn’t you consider the G80 and G90 to be luxury (tier 1) cars? Do the specific vehicles have to follow the brand’s level? I think it could be argued that the cars are tier 1 but the brand is not.

I included all the Genesis vehicles because the brand is being called near luxury. I feel Genesis Motors should hold back from promoting awards that define any of their products as near luxury. Even the BMW 1-Series was never called near luxury.

I am sorry, maybe my comprehension is a bit off (no surprise) but could you quote the sentence(s) where they describe the line as near luxury and not just the G80 (which may be wrong for other reasons). I just don’t see where they say anything close to Genesis brand and near luxury in the same phrase. There are three places where they use the phrase “near luxury” and all of the seem to refer to the G80 models (perhaps wrongly) but NOT Genesis itself which is the brand. Again they specifically refer to the G90 as luxury. I am just not seeing the basis of your argument.

Tier 1 Lux brands are BMW, Audi, MBZ, Lexus, Jag, Land Rover, Porsche

So to be in the Tier 1 do ALL the car in that brand need to be Tier 1? Some? One? A majority? I am thinking of the Lexus CT or IS. Tier 1?

I think you can put models in tiers but not brands.

I don't know. In Korea, do they always consider the non-flagship near luxury? Maybe their definition is different than ours...

So on what tier does one place the KIA K900?
In Korea, its THE executive sedan of choice.

I'd say the K900, itself, is a luxury sedan. The brand is not...

As Mcc has stated, the G90 has won category awards in the luxury segment.

Seems like Strategic Vision regards anything not a flagship to be near luxury.

The 3 Series was a previous awardee in the near luxury segment, as has been the Lexus RX in the near luxury SUV segment.

A GM at a collision shop said my G80 Sport was MUCH better than his new Audi S4. He couldn't get over the comfort and the bells and whistles we get.

So, if Audi is Tier 1, then...

Two totally different cars meant for different purposes, can't compare them.

I see, so that makes sense. They have their own specific way of categorizing things. I FEEL it's not in Genesis Motors' best interests to send out these news blasts with the term "near luxury" in the U.S. - because that's not the image they're going for...

As mentioned below, the A4/S4/RS4 - different type of car. The G80 is naturally more luxurious and in that regard "better"...
