  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

Newb here! Just test drove a sweet '18 G80 Sport, black on black... loved the car. Sticker is $56.5k. Take off $2k in Genesis discounts, $500 military, then add in tax, title, tags, dealer fees, and the OTD came to $60k. We left the car there.

I love my money more.

Good for you. That’s a terrible deal

Good call, the offer was missing the dealer discount, which should have been at least $2-3 k additonal. Genesis Company discounts are par for the course at all dealerships.

Nice as it is, I'd not pay it either. They should have been able to do better. Much better as the '19s are coming out.

Leased 03/29/18 G80 Sport.
MSRP $56365
Discounts and negotiated price $6500
Adjusted capitalized cost $49865 plus tax ($500), title/tags ($85), dealer fees ($1450).

We didn't take the offer sheet with us when we left so I don't remember if the $2k off was actually dealer discount or Genesis discount. I do remember it was 2 discounts at $1k each and then $500 for military.... Either way, I don't consider that a serious offer and my time is too valuable to play games...

My post may have been confusing. I am saying you should get a Genesis company discount of around $2k plus a dealer discount of around $2 -3k.

You'd think Genesis would have all kinds of incentives out there right now with the '19's knocking on the door! I sure miss the old days getting $5k off on a new '12 Hyundai Genesis!

Glad you left that dealership.

I picked up my NEW G80 Sport AWD with 65 miles on it back in May for $47k out the door. No trade-in.

Most of my other deals I negotiated hover around $51k out the door.

What was the sticker price ? Do you live in Michigan?

I'm in Wisconsin near the Milwaukee area. I stopped at a dealer in Gernee IL as they have 2 white 2018 Sports listed on their website with a list price of $58,750 discounted to $50,000. But when I stopped in they were only willing to give me $2000.00 in incentives and they gave me some kind of BS about the $50,000 being a lease price which does not make any sense to me. If I can't do a lot better than that I won't be buying a 2018.

What do you think is a fair discount at this late in the model year? A dealer in Milwaukee has about 6 of them listed and I plan on checking them out this Saturday.

This late in the year I'd expect more. I'd read the fine print on his ad as it sounds like a truth in advertising situation unless it states leasing. There is another thread tonight where a guy got closer to 8k off, but it was not the Sport.

I just dug up my paper work, Sticker price $55,640
Selling price $48,750

Plus they let me charge $4500 of it on my credit card, they had a 5% rewards deal for Xmas so I picked up another $225 there. I call it $7k off sticker. It is a 2018 3.8 Ultimate, it was purchased Dec 11th 2017. The discount was a combination of Genesis incentives and dealer discounts. The only dealer added fee was a $172, standard document fee. I should mention I looked around Milwaukee and locally, they couldn't come anywhere close to the deal I got in suburban Chicago. Local dealer wanted to give me a total of $3k off sticker. That having been said I would think you could do better on a 2018 now, 10 months later. It may well be worth your time to go or call Rosen Genesis in Algonquin, IL talk to Jon Muehl. Tell him Dave Lewis sent you his way. :) I have no idea if these deals are still available. But well worth checking.

I'm still playing games with dealers after more than a month. I guess they think they have the end all- be all- of cars and offer mediocre discounts but they all add nearly $1k in their BS fees. I had one offer me $4k off for a demo with 3k miles on it. That's a used car as far as I'm concerned!

I'd consider it barely used, but I'd want much more than 4k off. Maybe 10k. All dealers add some fees, but usually far less than what you are saying.

I went back to the web site after I visited the dealer and it is still there. No mention of a lease. Thanks for your reply I am in the same place I'm thinking you should get around 10K off on a 2018.

I think a major reason why we are not seeing the big discounts on the 2018s is because of the dealer situation with the 2019s and it being unknown as to when they will be widely available. It may be three or four months, maybe more, until there will be dealers who can sell the 2019s. Until that time comes they probably will not be giving the big discounts.

How does this deal sound to folks familiar with the history of these vehicles: 2017 Genesis G80 3.8 AWD Premium Package. Demo vehicle with some dealer commuting so has about 15,000 miles. MSRP was about $50,000. I would be the first owner, so would retain remainder of all original warranties. New tires. May negotiate a new battery as well since the showroom model battery was dead, and I have read of a few complaints on batteries dying prematurely in these vehicles. Negotiated to $36,000. Same car about 50 miles away about same mileage at $35,000 but I'd be 3rd owner.

That would explain a lot. Because of dealer issues (law suits) they are not shipping 19's until they are settled. Hmmmm. Maybe not a good time to purchase one of these autos.
