  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

You may be right, but the G80 Sport is still a little rare and then again int he south AWD is very rare. Genesis dealers here don't understand the value of HTRAC in Sport mode.

The AWD gets harder to find it. According to Cargurus, there is only 15 G80 Sport AWD listings nationwide, not even one of them in Havana Red, lol

The Genesis brand sold 615 cars in the US, in July 2018, a 60%+ drop from July 2017. The figures are abismal. Harldly seems worth it to put a lot of money into expensive dealerships.

It mist be a tough sell right now. Once the G70 and a couple of SUVs are in the lineup it should improve, but marketing has to step up also. Last week when I was at the police station to give a statement about my accident the detective never heard of a Genesis. People won't buy them if they never hear of them.

I'm thinking one everything is resolved with the dealers they may start some advertising in mainstream venues.

I spoke with a friend associated with Genesis. He says the sales fell in July as shipments were halted, while Genesis worked to iron out legal problems, state to state and to get the contracts signed for the dealerships. Both of these goals are very near completion. Look for a heavy advertising effort in October/November pushing the Genesis with emphasis on the new G70. I still have big expectations for the future of the Genesis. My apologies as this is a bit "off topic" for this thread but seemed related and important.

Works for me - Just wish someone would buy something & report. I will be turning in my VW tdi shortly & will need a replacement. Would be nice to see some dealers working with this form/offering incentives.

I'm looking for great prices too. Best offer I've had through a dealer was $3850 off but with $1300 in additional fees. How stupid do they think people are?

Sort of like charging extra for the cup when you get a coffee. In Italy some restaurants charge Coperto,a fee for the table setting. Bad enough some dealers get away with a $200 doc fee, but what are they doing for $1350? The discount sounds close to right though, may be bette when the new models hit the floor.

Probably a charge similar to what they used to call "dealer prep."

Fees were $899 dealer fee and $399 for electronic registration?

Yep, Illinois has that written into law. The dealer may charge the customer up to X amount for filing forms to the DMV over terminals from their dealership. I don't recall the amount right now. Many states have no laws regarding fees leaving the dealerships free to charge whatever the market will bear and then some. :(

Yes, but "may charge" differs from "will charge". Everything is negotiable. I don't care if they have $4999 in charges as long as the discount covers it. The law is a sweetheart deal for the dealer because people are afraid to walk out at the last minute when the spring those charges.

Very true.

That is why I always request an OUT THE DOOR PRICE - before I ever set foot in the dealership. Than they usually only bump me 80-100$ for things they forgot about---

So what would you say is the average discount off of the true MSRP sticker price?
IE: MSRP Total $52,000 Buyers Discount $3,900 = 7.5% (.075)
Higher or Lower discounts?
Just subtract any add on dealer fees from the discount and you will get the true net discount percentage.

Dec 11, 2017 I bought a 2018 G80 3.8 Ultimate sticker. $55,650 discount $6800. Then they let me charge $4000 on my credit card, at the time the card had 5% reward for xmas, so I got that $200. I call it 7k off. :)

$55,650 less 12% = $6,678 discount so you got a little better than 12%
Special sale? End of the month? Special discounts like military or employee or family?

$500 MILITARY. It was a cash deal. they gave me 24k for my 2015 Acura TLX which was a few thousand above blue book trade in. The flat discount, of course, came ahead of the trade.I checked my paperwork the only dealer extra charge was $172 for the Mvd document handling. No dealer prep.

Timing helps. I got about that same discount on my 2015 as it was toward the end of the MY. On my 2018 I got about 2k less, but it was right at the start of the MY.

Newb here! Just test drove a sweet '18 G80 Sport, black on black... loved the car. Sticker is $56.5k. Take off $2k in Genesis discounts, $500 military, then add in tax, title, tags, dealer fees, and the OTD came to $60k. We left the car there.

I love my money more.
