  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Makes sense.

This is what happens when you can't get your crap together to release a vehicle before you announce the next year's model in your own country lol. You cannibalize your own sales. Oh well.
SK had the G70 since the end of last year. They are 1 model year ahead.

I know, but they were trying to release in the summer and fell behind. Had they released the vehicle in the summer like they were aiming for, they would have had it widespread before the information from this next year version came out. They dropped the ball. So now I know that next year will likely have something significantly better (in my opinion, some don't like or want the digital dash), and I can wait for that rather than buy one now. Or what could happen is, someone waits for the next model and then sees something else they like from another company and then buys that instead. Granted, this only works for people who can wait, but this is just going to be a second car for me. I'm in no rush.

Well that is cause the US is a nightmare to deal with where every state is different and sues for any and all reasons. Remember how they tried to sue Tesla when Tesla wanted to sell direct instead of allowing a franchise of dealership networks?

Yeah it is, but they sell here as Hyundai. They knew that going in. There's nothing they or we can do about it now, but it definitely has cost them some sales. That's just life. I'm actually happy to be able to wait. I would have been pissed if next year got digital and I had bought this year cause that's something I care about.

What if you wait around for 2020 MY only to find out there’s no digital dash or any other added features, but there’s speculation that it may come for 2021? Do you wait and see another year, or another year after that?

Moot point since more than half of the US is forced to wait regardless.:mad:

I'd probably just buy a vehicle that does have a digital dash. I like the Mercedes AMG E63S and the new BMW M850i or maybe I would even get some lesser car. I'm in a funny situation where my income is about to grow a good bit next year, so I'm just in because this is a good deal and I don't want to be too extravagant because I'd prefer to start saving after years of schooling.

Genesis hasn't shown they can do a good job of being a premium dealer so far in my opinion. They're working towards it, but not yet. If they don't bring the digital dash over here when most of their competition has it, I think that's a sign that they are still not on the right path. It would be different if Korea didn't have it either, but now that they've introduced it there. I need it to be here too to see that they're serious. I passed on the Stinger because of that same type of BS. Every market got a bunch of features the US didn't, and then they charged us more for it too. Hopefully that makes sense.

Also, see below lol.

@alabaaster how far/long did you end up traveling for Lucy? Just curious, looks like we will be waiting quite a bit here in Dallas. So possible I'll be taking a trip to Baton Rouge, LA which is about 375 miles out/5-6hr drive

Get it flatbedded...dealer might split the cost with you...to make it a "Genesis Experience".

Atlanta has already offered to do that for me...they said they deal with tons of out of town clients.

You folks are taking a big chance assuming it will come here. Perfect example is the Auto Posture stuff that never made it here. Awesome tech...not sure if any other brand even has it. But it did not leave S.Korea. This could be the same sort of thing.

Not to mention it might be exclusive to home market.
Like VW and their Discover Pro 2 9.2" infotainment on the Golf R wasn't available in NA for 2018 but was in Europe. NA just got the older Discover Media which could not display maps on both Navi and virtual cockpit at the same time like the Discover Pro 2 could!

Given the competition it is almost 100% certain that, should it survive, the G70 will have a digital instrument cluster. When that happens, who knows. Given that a good portion of the 2019 selling year will probably be missed, maybe they will not make any modifications until 2021 in order to get a better idea of the demand.

They may wait until the usual 6 year time frame for new series to make any modifications while they are in bankruptcy.

I see those waiting a year are probably making a wise financial decision too. I don't see a huge demand for the G70 anytime soon and it'll eventually follow the same path as the stinger in terms of incentives. Dealers will be throwing money on the hood to sell these. The only curveball could be Genesisusa decides to limit production/shipping to the US (similar to what they did for this year for the G80/90) and cause a supply shortage.

What's the chance though? It's not like it's life or death lol. What do we actually lose by waiting? I mean, right now, you can barely get your car serviced anywhere anyway. Hopefully in a year, there should be a much better network. There are tons of state with no network whatsoever.

Edit: There's also the financial part listed above. Let's say we find out that it's not gonna come and just decided to get a first year model. Discounts would probably be pretty good. I dunno, I just don't see the harm in waiting. I played the waiting game with the Stinger and this new model year they brought in almost all the stuff they left out that everyone kept telling, oh you don't know if they'll bring it next year. However, the G70 had grown on me by then so they just lost my sale forever as my need for a bigger vehicle is no longer a need because I bought an SUV.

I love the G70 on the way it looks and performance wise but I am also looking at other vehicles that are competitors. G20 M340i and the Volvo S60. Both of those come with a Digital Display. Honestly at this point I really don’t care about a Digital Display anymore. All I want is for Genesis to finally sale the G70 here so I can test drive it and see. If the S60 and M340i comes out before the G70 in my state I would probably move onto the competition.

Yes the G70 has really impressed me. I could easily live without the digital display, but I feel like they need to bring it over. What state are you in?

holding out for the digital dash in this pics I've seen is completely mind bottling! IMO... compared to the other guys doing digital dash, the one in the pics looks like something straight off my son's nintendo switch. it's almost laughable and takes away from the elegance and luxury of a pretty sexy interior. give me something more modern. for now, the existing dials within the dash matches the look perfectly.
